Kolenik Design
Internationally operating designer Robert Kolenik (1981) started his company in 2005. He produces eclectic work, mixing and matching pure natural materials and beautiful rich fabrics like velvet, silk and special leathers. Kolenik has a contemporary focus on design that results in eco chic. His firm specializes in both private residences and public venues, such as beach clubs, hotels and restaurants. Customizing all elements helps the young designer to retain full creative control of his project.

Studio Kooij was founded in 2010 by Dirk van der Kooij (b. 1983, Purmerend, NL). Holding the attitude of craftsman-inventor, Dirk set about producing durable furniture objects from unlikely source material: namely, recycled plastic. In marrying machine and had, Dirk was able to foster honest ornamentation in plastic-a material so often condemned for its ability to imitate. Success came in the form of elephant skin: a process which sees plastic sheets wrinkle and retract, before being moulded by hand into tables and stools. The results were organic and hard-fought. In the decade that has passed, the studio has grown to include a team of 13 makers, developers, finessers and fans. All elements of the design process, from research to production to communication, are carried out our Zaandam factory, 5km from the centre of Amsterdam. Together, we give purpose to over 29 tons of recycled plastic every year. In the design of chairs, tables, vases and light fixtures Dirk combines tradition and technology, craft and digital robot techniques. Every piece is an industrially produced ‘one-of-a-kind.’

The Frozen Fountain
The Frozen Fountain is a shop that sells contemporary furniture and home accessories. The Frozen Fountain maintains close contact with designers emerging from the various art academies both in the Netherlands and abroad. The result is a highly dynamic collection. The collection is then made complete by a selection of international furniture brands, creating an interesting interplay of classics and designs by contemporary designers. In addition, The Frozen Fountain has organised many exhibitions. With these exhibitions, we strive to visualise the symbiosis between idea and end product. The emphasis has now shifted more onto installations and art commissions. Installations can be organised relatively quickly, allowing us to respond better to the latest developments. In addition, issuing art commissions allows us to investigate a particular subject in greater depth.

As a type foundry, Typotheque is interested in exploring the idea of contemporariness, creating quality typefaces to reflect our time and serve its needs, contributing our part to the ongoing history of type development. Our clients are attorneys/litigators, in-house legal departments, educators, researchers and others dealing with legal information. Aclara Legal Design was founded by Anna Posthumus Meyjes. Anna is a legal designer. She brings creativity, design and a user-centred approach to law. Anna worked as an attorney-at-law in an international litigation practice for over ten years, amongst others at the top-tier Dutch law firm NautaDutilh. She specialised in liability, insurance and financial law. Designing and using clarifying visualisations became an increasingly important part of her communication and inspired her to start Aclara Legal Design.
