Isia Roma Design
ISIA Roma Design, a state school of design under the aegis of the Ministry of Public Education, was founded in 1973 by Giulio Carlo Argan. It sprang from the need to train highly professional designers who would uphold the fine European intellectual and teaching tradition, following in the footsteps of the Bauhaus and the Hochschule fur Gestaltung of Ulm. From these schools it inherited and developed a methodological framework of excellence which it combined with Italians’ great talent for creativity and innovation. ISIA Roma Design has received a set of prizes: two ADI “Golden Compass” prize and nine ADI “Gold Plate”, a Medal and a Plaque of the President of the Republic, a postage stamp of the Poste Italiane, eleven SYDA Samsung awards and about another 230 national and international awards. ISIA Roma Design considers the act of designing as an essential moment in the dialectic exchange and interaction between the individual and society, in demand and sustainability, expression and reflection, considering Design as a configuration of excellence in every type of production of instruments and ideas. After forty-five years of activity, based on research and experimentation, the university today can boast of a rich cultural heritage as well as scientific and teaching experience practically unequalled in Italy. It is therefore in a position to provide students with the tools to understand the deep socio-economic and technological changes taking place and to translate them into their creative work, qualifying the designer as both bearer of a renewed material culture and as interpreter of the immateriality of our times.

Nonsolodesign
Angelo Ricchiuti is the creator of nonsolodesign. He studies and graduates in Design in Rome and in Milan at Politecnico. When he was still a student, he wins the third place at an ADI national contest. He works for prestigious Italian companies such as Ducati, which will be the subject of his thesis at university. He’s been working in Viterbo, Mantua and Milan as industrial designer for 8 years. In Milan he starts working as lighting engineer and develops contract products for fashion designers. During his activities he acquires good knowledge of marketing, communication, industrialization and production engineering skills. He works in the electrical household appliance field in Varese for companies such as Whirlpool. He cooperates with ONdesign company as product, illustration and packaging designer where he’s in charge of various projects relating consumer products for Oregon Scientific. He also works on projects for the following companies: Bontempi, Alcatel Mobile Phones, Cordivari, Lumson, Di Costa and Lisciani Giochi. He also designs and develops three products for Industrie Olivieri company. He ranks in the first ten competitors at the international Toshiba HDD Design Competition. He is also selected by the “Triennale” Exhibition for “The New Italian Design” project. He designs and develops 3 highly technological products for T-Quadro Spa company including the domotic control unit Ambient 360 and tactile switches.

Paolo Lucchetta furniture is the product of a design concept that is both new and traditional, because it has made the artist the centre of invention, new because its style is strongly innovative, even if measured against modern criteria. The brand history, which began in the heart of Brianza during the mid-1970, is that of a manufacturing firm which is rooted within the cherished confines of a small workshop but that is roaring into the millennium with the high sales levels that testify to the company’s strong international bent. An important characteristic of products is the choice of materials, their applications and their combination, which always lead to impeccable results: for the type of wood that is the soul of all creations and for the fabrics of upholstery chosen from a sampling of textiles that represent the best quality Italian industry has to offer. Fringes, bows and braids in colours that match the upholstery are applied strictly by hand and they Exemplify care for detail which knows no bounds. Even the lacquer finishes, the gilding and the colour combinations as secondary details, but strategic elements which deserve an important creative and design effort. Indeed, the finishing on a piece is a very delicate step in the production process. It requires a strong ability in “seeing” things, which few people have, combined with lengthy experience in choosing between the various combination. One mistake with a detail, even through it may seem very small, can change the observer’s emotions and feelings about a piece. Our furniture consists of pieces that are designed to be the centre of attention, to be looked at an to be admired for their expressive, sculpture – like aspects. But above all, they are designed to be used, particulary the items that have a direct relationship with the user, such as chairs and padded pieces.

Silveri Visual
40 anni fa, in un paesino nella provincia di Pescara, nasceva l’idea della giovane, tenace e spavalda Claudia Pace, di mettere su una piccola azienda pubblicitaria frutto del suo amore per l’arte e per il disegno. Inizialmente munita solo di impegno e perseveranza realizza cartelli pubblicitari interamente fatti a mano, tentando di guadagnarsi la clientela anche cercando porta a porta in sella ad una bicicletta. Col tempo il suo impegno viene ripagato: acquista un stabilimento produttivo e un piccolo ufficio a Villa Raspa oltre ad attrezzature e macchinari da taglio, in più incrementa l’organico assumendo personale che terrà con se negli anni a venire, nonostante i cambiamenti e lo sviluppo di tecnologie di produzione sempre più avanzate. Con la crescita sia lavorativa che familiare le prime due figlie, Cecilia e Francesca, forti ragazze intrepide e volenterose come la loro mamma, entrano a far parte dell’azienda. Inizialmente come semplici impiegate, successivamente con ruoli sempre più importanti e diversificati, fino a quando nel 2014 nasce la Silveri Visual snc, la ditta ereditata dalla madre e gestita dalle sorelle Silveri. Una nuova concezione di azienda, amministrata solo ed esclusivamente al femminile, portata aventi da: Cecilia – all’ufficio tecnico e creativo, Francesca – account manager e la ragioniera Dina – madre di famiglia che ha alle spalle 30 anni di lavoro alla Silveri Pubblicità; infine l’ultima arrivata la terza figlia, Paola, tirocinante alle prime armi con tanta forza di volontà e spirito d’ iniziativa. Queste 4 donne insieme contribuiscono a smentire l’idea che la capacità dirigenziale, organizzativa, tecnica e artigianale sia di pertinenza prettamente maschile.
