Swinburne Senior Secondary College
We invite students, both present and past plus our broader community to follow this page. Swinburne Senior Secondary College is a co-educational government secondary college specifically for Years 11 and 12 students. The College offers the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), Vocational Education and Training (VET) and the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL). At Swinburne Senior Secondary College we do things differently. We want our young adults to be ready for the real world. That’s why we focus on respect, responsibility and commitment. We cater for young people wanting a breadth of subject options, a more adult-like learning environment, or simply a fresh start. We don’t have many school rules. Instead we live by our values. Everyday. We’ve been around since 1913 but in 1993, we started focusing on senior students who didn’t feel at home in other, more traditional, schools. Our curriculum and timetable is varied and flexible to cater to a range of needs, attitudes and values. Some young people come to us for our renowned visual and performing arts, design and technology and humanities programs; some want to get ahead with our mathematics and science programs. Whatever their passion, our young people have access to 34 VCE subjects, VCAL at intermediate and senior levels and a broad range of VET certificate courses, of which 16 are taught at the school. We want to redress disadvantage and discrimination. Every young adult, regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality or life circumstance has an opportunity to succeed here. Our young adults don’t have to pretend to be someone they’re not. Swinburne Senior Secondary College students arrive from all over greater metropolitan Melbourne and from government, independent and Catholic secondary schools. Our average enrolment is around 420 students from 130 feeder schools.

Aerobotics Global
Today, the world around us grows and innovates. It’s certainly changed us. We think it’s made us better. Regardless how ambitious we are, tomorrow will always be different to today. But Today we think it’s more than that. We think tomorrow is exciting. And it’s bigger than digital too. From robots to artificial intelligence the world around us is being shaped by physical innovations as well. By sensors and motors, by physics and math; by the very sciences, we were taught at school. We think there’s something special in that. When you see science, technology, engineering and mathematics working together. It’s innovation at work, a sign of a coming age that we’re all a part of. And it’s nice that it’s no longer the nerds in the corner. Nor is it that special few. We want everyone to ride this wave, preparing for the future of their own work and study. This change is happening outside of race, religion, gender or age; and it’s just getting started. So the earlier students can get excited about the age we live in and the things that sit behind our technology. The more prepared they are going to be to lead the future of the workplace. That’s what we want to teach and inspire; we want to help people understand their true potential in the age we get to live in, together. Because tomorrow will always be different. But today, tomorrow is exciting.
