West Africa Regional Training Center Rtc
In July 2012, the United States of America signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Ghana to establish the West Africa Regional Training Center (RTC) in Accra, Ghana. The RTC represents a partnership between the U.S. Department of State and the Government of Ghana, as well as a concrete deliverable of both the West Africa Cooperative Security Initiative (WACSI) and the U.S. Strategy to Combat Transnational Organized Crime. The RTC officially opened in January 2013, and continues to facilitate the delivery of an Advanced Transnational Organized Criminal Investigation series to law enforcement personnel from Ghana and other Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) countries to combat transnational organized crime in West Africa. The RTC is also expanding its course offerings on a regular basis and now offers specialized courses taught by experts from the U.S. federal law enforcement community. With support from U.S. Embassy Accra and funding from the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), the West Africa Regional Training Center is successfully implementing numerous capacity building programs.
