Marine Science Institute
Welcome to the Marine Science Institute's LinkedIn page! Since our establishment in 1970, the Marine Science Institute has been at the forefront of environmental education in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our mission is rooted in the belief that hands-on experience in the local marine environment fosters curiosity, deepens scientific understanding, & instills a sense of responsibility for environmental stewardship among students of all ages. In response to the growing concern over water resources in the Bay Area, the Institute was founded on the pioneering idea of connecting students directly with their natural surroundings. Prior to our inception, there was a noticeable gap between environmental awareness and educational opportunities in the region. We sought to bridge this divide by offering immersive programs that allow students to explore & interact with the diverse flora and fauna of San Francisco Bay. Our flagship program, the Discovery Voyage, launched in our early years, quickly gaining recognition for its effectiveness in engaging students. Over the years, we have expanded our offerings to include a variety of land-based programs such as the Shoreside program, the Inland Voyage, & the Tidepool program at Pillar Point in Half Moon Bay. From our modest beginnings serving students annually, we have grown to impact over students & adults each year across all our programs combined. At the Marine Science Institute, we take pride in delivering high-quality educational experiences led by expert instructors. Our commitment to excellence has earned us recognition as a Great Nonprofits "Top-rated Nonprofit" for multiple years running. None of this would be possible without the generous support of individuals, businesses, and foundations who share our vision & contribute to ensuring that our programs remain accessible to all. Join us in our mission to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards and explore the wonders of the San Francisco Bay.

Midland School
Midland School is an economically and ethnically diverse college preparatory boarding school for students in grades 9-12. Since its founding in 1932, the School has embraced a philosophy and practice of a simple and self-reliant community, which lives close to nature. Within the rustic exterior lies a gem. Midland School offers a vibrant and challenging liberal arts education to college bound high school students rooted in agrarian values that are increasingly rare and sought after in today’s world. Midland’s founder, Paul Squibb, considered an understanding of natural resources to be an essential element of education, as only through this can students truly value and conserve them. Although we are beyond Midland’s age of kerosene lamps, students still use fires to heat their shower water, maintain an organic garden and perform all routine campus maintenance. Midland stands firmly amongst the top boarding schools in North America. Midland attracts and develops self-reliant and responsible students who through their Midland experience become effective leaders, partners, parents, employees, and citizens.
