Frontenac Arch Biosphere Network
At the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Network (FABN), our vision is to contribute to strengthening sustainable community development, and celebrate the interconnectedness of nature, livelihood, well-being, and culture, for this and future generations. We accomplish our work through projects, programs, and by networking with conservation organizations, economic and social development groups, as well as the educational and scientific communities located within the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Region (FABR). The Frontenac Arch Biosphere Region is one of 19 UNESCO biosphere regions within Canada. The Frontenac Arch is an ecologically unique landscape characterized by an ancient ridge of exposed granite that acts as a wildlife corridor between the Adirondack Mountains and the Algonquin Highlands. The Biosphere region covers 2,700 square kilometres spanning from Brockville to Westport to Verona and is located on the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee (Kanienʼkeháka) and Anishinaabeg (Algonquin) people. We are grateful for and acknowledge the generations of Indigenous peoples who have taken care of this land, and who have ongoing and historic connection with this land. Today, the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Region is still home to many First Nations and Metis people, and we are grateful to have an opportunity to continue stewardship on this land.
