Außerdem nutzen wir die im Abfall enthaltene Energie effizient und gewinnen daraus Prozessdampf für Industrieanlagen, Fernwärme für Wohngebiete und umweltfreundlich erzeugten Strom. Im Rahmen unserer Nachhaltigkeitsstrategie haben wir uns ambitionierte Ziele gesetzt, um Klimaneutralität zu erreichen. Eine wesentliche Maßnahme wird neben der CO2-Reduzierung die CO2-Abscheidung in unseren Anlagen sein. Das abgeschiedene CO2 soll dabei teilweise unterirdisch gelagert oder als wertvoller Rohstoff für chemische Produkte in einer klimaneutralen Wirtschaft der Zukunft genutzt werden.
