Wij kweken grote bloeiende heesters en volwassen bomen, waaronder groenblijvende bomen, karakterbomen, meerstammige planten en strak gesnoeide vormen. Sommige van onze bomen zijn zelfs meer dan 100 jaar oud! Bij O-TREES ligt onze focus op het kweken van meerstammige struiken en bomen met karaktervolle eigenschappen. Pibo-Campus

PIBO-campus vzw, gelegen te Tongeren, is al 25 jaar de kennishub voor de Zuid-Limburgse akkerbouwers. Centraal gelegen in het belangrijkste akkerbouwareaal van Limburg, wordt er praktijkgerichte kennis ontwikkeld via veldproeven die dan via telersvergaderingen, demodagen, individuele contacten met de akkerbouwers en publicaties in vakbladen tot bij de doelgroep wordt gebracht. In respons op de noden van de hedendaagse akkerbouw staat PIBO-campus in voor het uittekenen en uitvoeren van praktijk- en demoproeven en het dissemineren van ontwikkelde kennis. Dit gebeurt in samenwerking met het Provinciaal Instituut voor Biotechnisch onderwijs, de Vlaamse landbouwcentra, provincie Limburg en een uitgebreid netwerk van actoren.

Wijndomein Marsnil

Jongste generatie Vanmarsenille-Cornelis zet de stap naar teelt van witte en rode druiven. De zeven kleinkinderen van Paul Vanmarsenille geven nieuwe bestemming aan “moeilijke” akker. De ondergrond blijkt de ideale terroir voor de aanleg van een unieke wijngaard. Pittig detail: de wijngaard ligt in het gebied “Marsnil”, ongetwijfeld de oorsprong van onze familienaam Vanmarsenille. Deze plaats staat reeds vermeld op de Herkenrodekaarten (1660) als “Het Marsenil velt”: Mars= moeras, ille = eiland. Voorlopig telt de wijngaard 1400 stokken Chardonnay. In 2017 werd er uitgebreid met 800 stokken Pinot Noir, 150 Riesling, 150 Gewurztraminer en 150 Auxerrois. De teelt gebeurt op natuurlijke wijze, met preparaten op basis van kruiden en planten uit de omgeving, zonder gebruik van pesticiden. Uniek in Vlaanderen. Voor de nieuwsgierigen, de eerste witte wijn kan geproefd worden begin van zomer 2017.
