Algoma Orchards Corp
Welcome to Algoma Orchards We are proud leaders in Canada's apple farming and packing industry. With a state-of-the-art packing and juice-bottling facility located in Newcastle, Ontario, our loyal customers have come to know and appreciate our high-quality apples and apple cider. As fourth generation farmers, the Kemp family has a proven passion for farming. We began growing apples in the 1800's with Algoma Orchards starting in 1964. Algoma would grow, pack, and ship apples to local grocery stores. Our humble roots allowed us to learn the fundamentals of apple growing and selling. Since then, Algoma Orchards has grown immensely and continues to do so. In 2010, Algoma Orchards opened up shop in Newcastle. The Algoma Orchards Gourmet Market became a staple for many Durham Region locals, while our packing plant operates day and night to produce apple products for Canadians across the country. Algoma's vision is to be Canada's preferred source for apples and apple beverages. We are well on our way.

Barrie Hill Farms Ltd
Adrien and Evelyn Gervais purchased the farm in 1968 and grew tobacco until 1979. Getting out of the tobacco industry, strawberries were the first crop, beginning in 1977, followed by blueberries, raspberries and asparagus in the mid 80’s. By the 90’s the blueberry fields had grown to 40 acres, making Barrie Hill Farms one of the the largest highbush blueberry farms in Ontario. The farm continues to offer customers new and exciting products. For instance, in peas and green & yellow beans were added to our list of crops. And in 2015 an apple orchard was established! The farm is still family owned and operated. Adrien and Evelyn’s older son Morris and his family operate the farm. The success of Barrie Hill Farms over the years, is due to Adrien & Evelyn’s foresight, work ethic and dedication to family and farm. It is also a result of the loyal support of our customers and community. Morris’ family hopes to be able to continue farming for many years to come, and perhaps a third generation will one day be able to grow fruits and veggies and care for the land.
