National technical support is given by a dedicated UK based team backed by Hendrix Genetics technicians, nutritionists, layer hen and production system specialists, and veterinarians from France and the Netherlands.

Kames is Scotland’s only family-run fish farm, producing 2,500 tonnes of Steelhead Trout per year. We are the sole producers of sea-reared trout in the UK, exceptional for its size, taste and quality, from our own unique, award-winning breeding programme. Sea-grown Steelhead Trout are more akin to a salmon than a smaller river rainbow trout, yet with the lovely delicate flavour for which trout is well-loved, a firmness of texture, a cleanness of taste and exceptional fillet. We run a small-scale, high welfare operation that puts quality, sustainability and community at the heart of everything we do. We have operated on the West Coast for over 50 years; this community is not just our workplace, it’s our home Kames is Scotland's only family fish farm, established in 1972 at Loch Melfort on the West Coast of Argyll. Since then we have won many awards, including Best Aquaculture Co in the UK (2022), Best Animal Welfare (2023) and our founder Stuart Cannon was awarded an MBE in 2025 for services to sustainable development in Scottish aquaculture. Alongside the farming side of our business we operate a fish farming equipment supply and installation service ranging from fish cages and moorings to jetties and rafts for both aquaculture and the leisure sector.
