Millennial Growers
Millennial Growers is a youth social enterprise dedicated to enhancing youth involvement in agriculture through government, NGOs, civil society and private sector engagement by executing agriculture practices that are youth-farmer friendly, socially accepted, economically viable, environmentally sound and suited to the specific local and environment conditions we recognized that the current Agriculture Sector Working Group needs to be strengthened through linkages with other FORA, with increased participation from the private sector, including small scale youth farmers We believe that by channeling development benefits to local youth communities through social entrepreneurship (agriculture based) can generate a wide range of direct and indirect business benefits. Providing economic opportunities for youth in agriculture is essential to securing the future of agriculture, addressing poverty, unemployment, and inequality in our country. However, barriers limit youth participation in agriculture and the broader food system. Existing agricultural interventions are production-centric and provide low-income earnings and inadequate social protection. Yet, agriculture is a sector that can drive socio-economic transformation and allow for broader participation of marginalized groups, women, and youth, in the economy. Millennial Growers is a platform that creates supportive initiatives that promote capacity building, stakeholder investment, and creating innovative spaces in agriculture in a way that takes into account youth aspirations are part of the solutions for promoting youth participation in agriculture are needed. our overall goal is to contribute to the development of resilient production, sustainable and diversified households activities both on-farm and off-farm for livelihoods, thus strengthening small scale youth famers’ capacity to face production and market challenges without falling back into poverty and distress
