Heirloom Roses
We are a family business, owned by Ben and Kara Hanna, that values premiere, quality roses and the preservation of unique and rare roses. Located in the fertile Willamette Valley in Oregon, we are continuing the legacy of John and Louise Clements who founded the nursery back in 1972 on their own small farm. We are committed to providing own-root roses that provide profuse blooms, are winter hardy, are disease resistant, and are true to variety. We know that gardens are more than just physical beauty. Beautiful gardens are a place of solace, social gatherings, and peace where beauty and rich scent can refresh the soul. We want to help our customers achieve this in their own gardens through our Customer Care and Commitment to Quality. Jones Family Farms, nestled in the White Hills of Shelton, with its 19th century dairy barn and homestead farmhouse, impresses the visitor as a peaceful and relaxed living environment. The beautiful countryside with its orderly rows of Christmas trees, neat stonewalls, and well-maintained fields are the result of efforts by seven generations of Jones family farmers. The farmers of the 400-acre working farm invite families to visit and harvest seasonal crops. Presently under cultivation are 200 acres of Christmas trees, 15 acres of strawberries, 15 acres of blueberries, and 25 acres of pumpkins, gourds and squash. The farm also manages 50 acres of hay land and 50 acres of woodlots. Over five acres of grapes are in production for the farm's winery. We care for our crops and the land of the Jones Farm to inspire people through the beauty of the landscape and the miracle of growing plants. We help all to understand the nature of sustainable agriculture and the importance of caring for the earth, its plants and animals. “We believe we grow the best agricultural products in an environmentally sustainable way. Latham Hi-Tech Seeds
Latham Seed was founded in 1947 in Alexander, Iowa, by farmer Willard Latham and his wife, Evelyn. Willard was an innovator, helping farmers in his area protect their oat crops against disease by retrofitting a piece of equipment that helped clean and preserve their crop. Meanwhile, Evelyn ran the “office” from their kitchen, making numerous trips daily from the house to the outbuildings whenever Willard needed to take a phone call. She was literally the chief cook and bottle washer. Plus, she was the busy mom of four boys under the age of seven with one on the way. Willard began Latham Seeds with oats and later transitioned into soybean production. Three of his sons joined the business in the 1960’s-70’s and added a sales component to the company’s production efforts. The third generation of Lathams added hybrid corn and hi-tech forage to the product lineup, providing farmers with more choices for their field. Willard and Evelyn’s family home has been converted into company headquarters, and the former family room serves as the office lobby today. What was Evelyn’s kitchen now serves as Shannon Latham’s office, where she cooks up marketing ideas like the Latham Freedom of Independence Ride. Business meetings have transitioned from the kitchen table to the conference room. Our dedication, however, remains unchanged, with a focus on meeting customers' needs with the most superior varieties of soybean seed, hybrid seed corn, alfalfa seed and cover crop seed.
