Friends Of The Petawawa Research Forest
This forest has been at the forefront of environmental research since its inception in 1918. The latest research performed here include silviculture effectiveness analyses, climate change research plots, Hemlock woolly adelgid trials, LiDAR plot calibration measurements, among many others. Operations Manager and Registered Professional Forester, Elizabeth Cobb, has dedicated many hours into the advancement of this research while maintaining the health of this beloved forest. It has been instrumental to Algonquin College as an outdoor classroom for various of their environmental programs and is shared with the Canadian Armed Forces for various military exercises. As for public usage, walking, cycling, and passive recreation on the trails throughout the PRF are welcome, but please respect the forest environment and do not light fires. Take note of the rules posted on Kiosk signs on site.
