The House of Children Foundation (HCF) is a Nonprofit Organization located in the Arusha region of Tanzania. HCF was founded in January of 2016 and is a registered Nonprofit with the government of Tanzania under the Ministry of Community Development, Gender and Children. The Ministry is dedicated to promoting community development, gender equality, and children’s rights through the formulation of policies, strategies and guidelines in collaboration with active stakeholders in the country. HCF was established as a means of supporting orphans, street children, providing care critical to their health and wellbeing in a safe and friendly “home”. HCF is dedicated to:(i) Providing a welcoming home, providing food, clothes, education and health care.(ii) Creating a caring environment and a safe place to foster Providing education from pre-school up through secondary school with an English curriculum. We offer children an extended education, and help them build a life as an independent and self-sufficient adult. We do not have an “at the gate selection process”, meaning, we take on any child in need, independent of their intellectual abilities or gender. Children start learning English very early on and are provided with every opportunity to develop themselves through an extended school curriculum. We believe in developing a unique growth plan for individualized guidance, as each child is unique and has different skills to offer the world, regardless of gender. We work very closely with each child and ask that he/she takes a hands on approach in mapping out an education plan that reflects their interests and capacities. At its very core, is the foundation's conviction to help these children develop their talents because we believe it can substantially improve their future and quality of life. We believe that helping children is our way of securing a stronger future through Tanzania’s continued development.
