Kloth - Kernow Library Of Things
A Library of Things works like a normal library. But instead of borrowing books, you can borrow tools, kitchen equipment, camping gear in fact, pretty much anything. The kind of things that you might not own, only use occasionally, or perhaps, can’t afford. We want to move away from the idea that in order to use things we have to own them and having a Library of Things means that everyone in a community shares stuff as and when they need to, instead of storing things away in homes. This year has shown more than ever how important community is. And supporting our project also helps as we hurtle ever closer to climate breakdown. Because a Library of Things also means buying less, repairing more and having greater respect for resources, our environment and our planet. In September, with help from Penryn Town Council, we opened the first KLOTH branch in Penryn. Local people have already donated some incredible things. Now, we’re crowdfunding to keep the project running and build up the library with some really useful, but expensive, things.

North Harrow Community Library
North Harrow Community Library is an exciting new initiative which came about through the coming together of a group of local people following the closure of the council run library. We want to provide a community hub as well as a centre of literacy and learning in the modern world of multimedia communication. Through continued community engagement we have negotiated a lease on the former library, secured initial start-up funding, formed a board of trustees opened a bank account and recruited a team of about 100 volunteers.

Lavender Menace Queer Books Archive
Lavender Menace is a Community Interest Company established to promote and benefit the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, non-binary, intersectional (LGBT+) community and their allies. To collect a physical archive of queer and LGBT+ books, especially those Lavender Menace Bookshop sold and those which are out of print, in order to keep them alive for readers in a way the publishing industry’s business model makes it difficult to do. To create a database of these and other books, both older and newer. To make this database interactive on a website with reviews and a blog about queer and LGBT+ books (those by or about queer and LGBT+ people or involved with queer and LGBT+ history). To take part in or organise events such as meetings about queer and LGBT+ writing, history and theatre, and run bookstalls, in order to promote queer and LGBT+ writing and bookselling. To highlight the collection’s books and (newer queer books) in the archive blog, and on social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, in order to encourage others to read them and write about them. To collect ephemera associated with queer bookselling, especially in Scotland. To build links with other queer and feminist archives, and heritage groups such as LGBT History Month, in order to promote dialogue and learn about new developments. To raise funds to support the archive through grants, crowdfunding donations and sales of queer book-themed products. To encourage donations of queer books from individuals and organisations. To seek partnerships with institutions to secure the archive’s future as a space for the books, a research facility, and a forum for discussion and events around queer writing
