Tomasos Brothers Inc

Tomasos Brothers Inc.(TBI), the Greek company managing a fleet made of tankers, OBO and bulk carriers ever since its foundation, recently took delivery of the Giovanna, a geared bulkcarrier completed - under DNV class - at Dae Sun Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd in Busan, South Korea. The vessel is the first out of 8 newbuildings ordered by the Piraeus-based operator in the past two years consistently with a steady program of in-depth fleet renewal plan, thus ending a ‘silence’ from the newbuilding scene of over seven years. Remarkably Giovanna was also the name of a dwt tanker built in 1991 in Japan and managed by TBI before being sold for demolition in 2010. It must be noted that the first newbuilding project of Tomasos Brothers, a tanker vessel, was built during 1995. At present the company’s extensive newbuilding program include two more geared bulkers in Dae Sun Shipyards to be delivered in July and August 2011 - the second vessel under construction, the Capetan Costis, will be delivered these days - one Cosco Shipyards bulker commissioned past May and to be delivered in January 2012, four Guangzhou 52.300dwt product/chemical tankers (priced just over 50million each) to be delivered in 2012 and 2013.
