Desde su entrada en producción, ha llevado a cabo una fase de ampliación de su capacidad de producción hasta las 15 millones de toneladas de mineral tratadas en sus instalaciones metalúrgicas. Actualmente emplea a más de 470 personas en su plantilla. Las contratas principales suman más de 600 empleos directos a estas cifras. Atalaya Mining es una empresa minera minera liderada por gestores y técnicos españoles. Sus prinicpales accionistas son líderes en el sector de las materias primas internacional. La compañía cotiza en las Bolsas de Londres y Toronto. LA MINA DE RIOTINTO El yacimiento de Riotinto está situado en la Faja Pirítica Ibérica, posiblemente la mayor concentración de sulfuros masivos del mundo. En los últimos 150 años la mina ha producido intensamente cobre, azufre, oro y plata. El bajo precio del cobre provocó el cierre de la mina en Las reservas metálicas actuales y un escenario de precios estable hacen posible la explotación al menos en los próximos 16 años.
