Türkiye, uluslararası raporlama standartlarına ilişkin politikalar geliştirmek, ülkemizde bu standartlara ilişkin uygulamaları yaygınlaştırmak, raporlama standartları ile ilgili çalışmalar yürüten çatı kuruluş olan CRIRSCO’ya üye olabilmek ve bu kuruluşla iş birliği yapabilmek amacıyla ilk adımları 2012 yılında atmıştır. Maden Kanununda 2016 yılında yapılan düzenleme ile UMREK’in kurulması bu çalışmalara hız kazandırmış ve çalışmaların karşılığı olarak UMREK, Türkiye’yi temsilen CRIRSCO’nun Avrasya bölgesindeki ilk, dünya genelinde ise on üçüncü üyesi olarak 17 Mayıs 2018 tarihinde üyeliğe kabul edilmiştir. In 2012, Turkey took the initial steps toward developing policies about international reporting standards, expanding practices related to these standards in our country, and becoming a member of and collaborating with CRIRSCO, an umbrella organization that carries out studies on reporting standards. The establishment of UMREK with the 2016 amendment to the Mining Law accelerated related studies, and in return for these efforts, UMREK, representing Turkey, was accepted as the 1st member of CRIRSCO in the Eurasia region and the 13th member worldwide on May 17, 2018.
