Delcon Engineering & Mining
Delcon was established in South Africa in 1980 for the purpose of manufacturing and engineering of precision spare parts, which at the time could not be imported into the country. Some of the major customers included Anglo American and Goldfields Mines, Atlas Copco and Tamrock to name a few. Pursuant to urgent requests from the mining industry and in particular the gold sector, known for its extremely adverse operating conditions, Delcon started the development of Delta idlers and rollers in the Johannesburg area during 1986. Since then Delcon has continued to develop their products, offering a variety of troughed, impact, training and return idlers for belt width applications fabricated to SABS 1313 dimensional specifications and subjected to stringent quality and performance control requirements. During the early nineties the acquisition of an injection moulding company comprising of several machines, dryers and tooling added to our base of manufactured products. The plastic division produces products for the electrical industry and mining related products such as sealing components for rock drilling machines. During 2001 the demand in the mining industry for rubberised products initiated the establishment of Delcon Rubber Services providing services to the mining and industrial sectors, namely, the rubber lining of pipes, tanks, chutes, vibrator screens, etc. High quality application on site or factory either by steam cure or chemical cure contributed to its success. Cement and Supavac divisions followed shortly thereafter through innovation and development initiatives to provide tailor made solutions to your customers. Finally, Delcon identified an industry drive to mechanise mining in South Africa and continues to source solutions in this ever changing and challenging environment by development and introduction of the MultiOne range of loaders.
