Company history Velamphande Industrial (Pty) Ltd (“Vela”) is an emerging BEE investment holding company based in Midrand. The company has successfully acquired of a group of companies since 2006 and has self-funded its acquisitions and growth since its inception. In March 2006 “Vela’s” shareholders acquired Leruo Engineering (Pty) Ltd in Orkney Industria and have since built up the business ten-fold. We are proud of the fact that Leruo Engineering has since won a significant contract from AngloGold Ashanti which stretches over the next 3-5 years and involves the refurbishment of its entire underground Locomotive fleet. In August 2006 the shareholders acquired Tamasa Engineering from a project turnaround situation. Thomas Samons and his team has since successfully turned around the business and built it up to its current worth and levels of profitability. In recent years Tamasa Engineering has gone on to win a number of large contracts which have been, or are being completed successfully. In June 2009 Thomas Samons decided to merge his business, Transvice (Pty) Ltd (with its two subsidiaries, Sam’s Transformers and Impact Fleet Maintenance) into Velamphande Industrial (Pty) Ltd together with the 40% shareholding held by Velamphande Holdings (Pty) Ltd to form a “Newco” which now holds 100% of all of its underlying assets. Our Chrome is extracted from the tails by our sister company, Masa Chrome.
