Halifax Summer Opera Festival

The Halifax Summer Opera Festival educates and develops both singers and audiences through the performance of operatic repertoire. Our goals are to present three fully staged operas each summer in Halifax that challenge and enrich both artists and audience, and that are artistically and financially accessible to both. Our aesthetic is artist-centred, creative, professional, relatively low-budget, alternative, modern and respectful of our source material. Our clients are singers (from university undergrads to professionals), creative and technical workers and audience members, who may be experienced opera or theatre goers, or newcomers to the art form.

Hillside Festival

The Hillside Festival is a not-for-profit organization managed by four year-round staff and a board of directors. Hillside began in 1984 as local gathering of musical friends in Guelph, Ontario. Today, it is one of Canada's best-loved music festivals with over 50 musical performances on five stages over three days during the last weekend in July. Held at Guelph Lake conservation area on an island connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway, the festival is anchored by the Hillside Community permanent main stage, a dramatic outdoor performance space with a living roof and gracefully arched acoustical wooden ceiling. The organization added Hillside Inside, a winter festival in 2008 held each February at various venues in downtown Guelph. Hillside is renowned for its artistic lineup, a stunning blend of up-and-coming Canadian performers, world artists, and local talent. The program is always richly diverse and highly entertaining
