Daniel Barenboim Stiftung
Die Daniel Barenboim Stiftung fördert transkulturellen Dialog durch musikalische Bildung und Aufführungspraxis. Die Stiftung hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, Grenzen zu überwinden und zu wichtigen Reformen und Innovationen beizutragen. Dabei spielt Musik eine Schlüsselrolle: Sie ist sowohl eine universelle Sprache, die dabei helfen kann, gegenseitige Akzeptanz zwischen Menschen mit verschiedenen Hintergründen herzustellen, sie stellt aber auch ein intuitives Kommunikationsmittel dar, das bei der Vermeidung und Beilegung von Konflikten eine wichtige Rolle spielen kann. Die Stiftung wurde 2008 von Daniel Barenboim gegründet, um ein institutionelles Rahmenwerk für eine Reihe von existierenden Projekten – u.a. dem West-Eastern Divan Orchestra und der Barenboim-Said Akademie mit dem Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin – zu bieten, und um neue Initiativen innerhalb ihres Aufgabenbereichs zu entwickeln. Sie ist in Berlin ansässig, wo sie als gemeinnützige Stiftung eingetragen ist. Zu den Hauptaktivitäten der Stiftung für das West-Eastern Divan Orchestra gehören das Management sämtlicher Belange im Zusammenhang mit den internationalen Tourneen, verschiedene Musik- und Bildungsprojekte, vorrangig im Nahen Osten, sowie individuelle Stipendien-Programme. Die Stiftung glaubt, dass Musik viel in dieser Region bewirken kann und strebt deshalb danach, eine musikalische Kultur zu unterstützen, die zukünftig ein Bestandteil der sich dort entwickelnden Zivilgesellschaften sein kann. Es ist ein willkommener Nebeneffekt, dass nicht nur die Kontakte zwischen Israelis und Palästinensern gefördert werden, sondern auch jene zwischen Palästinensern, die in der Westbank und in Israel leben.

Since it was founded in 1946, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin has become recognised far beyond Germany—namely around the world. Famous music directors shaped the first seven decades of its history: Ferenc Fricsay, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Chailly, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Kent Nagano, Ingo Metzmacher and Tugan Sokhiev. The association of many years with top-class guest conductors such as James Conlon, Manfred Honeck, Ton Koopman, Sir Roger Norrington, Sakari Oramo, Leonard Slatkin and David Zinman contributes to the orchestra’s renown, as does regular collaboration with Kent Nagano, now honorary conductor, and the other former music directors.

Handiclapped - Culture Barrier-Free E.V
Inclusion rocks! Music for All. Berlin based charity Handiclapped organizes and promotes barrier-free live music along this motto. Over the past 11 years more than 250 concerts have been organized by Handiclapped in total. Always artists with and without handicap share the stage and make music together for a likewise inclusive audience. We are always looking for new bands who want to perform with us. Additionally over 50 band and dance workshops could be organized. The “Handiclapped Band” was founded ten years ago and today rocks at around 20 gigs each year. 2 congresses for “Live music and inclusion” have been organized in Berlin in 2017 and 2019. Main goal is, to make barrier-free live music happen as often and for as many people as possible, to create occasions to experience music as a common language that brings people with different backgrounds together at eye and ear level. To make access to live music as easy as possible for all, Handiclapped concerts start at around 6 pm (starting times often being critical, to prevent having to negotiate night shift conditions with caretaking services) and always in barrier-free locations. Tickets cost only 5 Euro, assistants get in for free. Because of the high cost involved with organizing concerts there is always a financial gap that needs to be filled by donations. So far concerts took place in Berlin and Brandenburg. Handiclapped now wants to spread the idea throughout Germany and Europe. Because: Inclusion rocks! Music for all.
