Bari Mama
Bari Mama is a non profit organization based and registered in Yerevan, Armenia. It was launched in 2014 by a group of Armenian mothers from around the world. The mission of Bari Mama is to ensure every Armenian child is raised in a family. This is achieved through a number of programs that our organization performs: Work with future mothers At Bari Mama we feel our first priority is to make sure that no child is ever abandoned and therefore we strive to identify mothers falling into the high-risk group for known or potential birth defects in children and to carry out work with them to ensure they are ready for the possible challenges and know what to expect. We also make sure that they know the types of support available to them and the children. Support in adoption Another key activity of the organization is to encourage child adoption in general and particularly the adoption of children abandoned due to health problems or innate disabilities. We run public awareness campaigns, charity events and other activities to inform the potential family about the children in need of their love and affection. Wide outreach is ensured through the support of the big Armenian diaspora and the Armenian Church. At this point, Bari Mama does not offer any legal services for organizing the adoption with the relevant authorities, however, in each individual case we will strive to provide as much support as possible. Care of the children in need Bari Mama aims to serve as a caring mother to the orphaned children until they are placed into families. Our volunteers organize fun activities for the children to feel loved and cared for. We also ensure that the children have everything they need for their well-being, including food, clothes etc. We also join and support fundraising activities when medical treatment is required. Bari Mama also plans to launch a Social Enterprise in 2016 to support its mission.
