Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage Trust
The Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage Trust (CWOT) was established in 1983 and is recognised as one of the oldest and largest chimpanzee sanctuaries in Africa. Located in Zambia, CWOT covers over hectares of Miombo forest and wetlands along the Upper Kafue River, Zambia's second largest river, and home to over 300 bird species, many of which are endangered. Located in the northern Copperbelt region, CWOT provides a sanctuary for more than 150 endangered chimpanzees and other wildlife in need. These animals are rescued and rehabilitated in appropriate semi-liberty enclosures covering more than 300 hectares. But we are more than a sanctuary! Our vision is an integrated landscape management approach that will serve as a sustainable model for Miombo forest management in rural Zambia. Through this approach, CWOT will lead the way in reducing wildlife trafficking, promoting sustainable local development, developing an equitable and inclusive rural society, and ensuring that biodiversity and ecosystems provide essential community services. This vision aims to improve the well-being and prosperity of the community and contribute to the achievement of national and global sustainable development goals by 2030. Today, Chimfunshi is home to around 70 employees and their families (around 400 people in total, including around 130 children). We are working to improve the quality of life for the community by providing housing, access to drinking water and electricity. Our community school, which serves more than 240 children from pre-school to ninth grade, provides education not only for the children of our employees, but also for the surrounding communities. Our educational programmes teach environmental responsibility. Our programmes and workshops teach conservation, sustainability and environmental management, and inspire action to protect our planet's biodiversity and the Miombo forest. In this way, we can inspire them to become Zambia's future conservation ambassadors.

Green Cosmos Zambia
Green Cosmos Zambia is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to combating climate change and promoting environmental sustainability in Zambia. Established by a committed team of environmental advocates, the organization is driven by Sustainable. Development Goal 13 (Climate Action) and focuses on preserving natural resources, fostering community engagement, and building resilience to climate impacts. Since its recognition by the Ministry of Green Economy in January 2023 and formal registration in March 2023, Green Cosmos Zambia has implemented impactful initiatives, including the "Keep Lusaka Clean" campaign, afforestation programs, and nationwide drought and food insecurity assessments. A notable collaboration exists with the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) under the Office of the Vice President, where Green Cosmos is conducting drought and flood sensitization programs in affected districts. These efforts aim to educate communities, strengthen adaptive capacities, and inform policy decisions. Green Cosmos Zambia’s innovative programs also empower youth through climate education and leadership development. The Mulenga Autism Foundation (MAF) is a parent-led, non-profit organization in Zambia dedicated to serving families caring for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that affects brain functioning, leading to challenges in social interaction, communication, and behavior. Founded by Mr. and Mrs. Kabali, whose journey began when their own child was diagnosed with Autism, the foundation was born out of the need for support, education, and advocacy for families facing similar situations. MAF's vision is to create an equal society in Zambia by removing barriers faced by individuals with Autism and protecting their rights and opportunities. The foundation offers core programs and activities to fulfill its mission: Clinical Services: MAF operates the Psychological Center, providing outpatient services such as Speech Therapy, Family Counseling, Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnosis, Neuropsychological Assessments, Psychotherapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Awareness: MAF spreads accurate information and corrects perceptions about Autism through digital media, events, media appearances, and publications. Family Support: Various programs and support group structures are in place to assist families in coping with the challenges of Autism. Capacity Building: MAF offers training sessions, volunteer, and internship opportunities for individuals passionate about providing support. Advocacy: The foundation raises awareness and advocates for increased support and resources for the Autism community.
