Basis.Point
basis.point is an initiative by the Irish Fund Industry with a vision to make a sustainable and tangible difference to those living in poverty, particularly young people, by supporting charities that focus on education. The Irish Fund Industry is hugely active in terms of providing financial assistance to those in need and is also tremendously engaged in active volunteerism. This assistance is mainly implemented through the CSR programs of industry firms and mostly takes place ‘under the radar’. basis.point was formed in 2013 (receiving charitable status in 2014), to supplement this very laudable effort and seeks support from all sectors of the industry, in particular, from individuals, corporates and fund promoters. basis.point reached a major milestone in February 2015, when we made our first multi-year grant to the Archways charity to implement the Archways basis.point programme Delivering Incredible Years® in Dublin’s Inner City. This first grant embodies what basis.point is about, helping a program that seeks to improve the lives of children with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties through early collaborative classroom and home intervention. This evidence based program will have a significantly positive impact on the children themselves, their family, friends and school friends and, ultimately, on society as a whole. We continue to seek donations to help basis.point meet our objective of making a real difference to those young people caught in poverty by focusing on enabling education to make a positive impact on their lives. You can help by becoming a patron or a volunteer and as basis.point can only make a difference to the extent it is supported, we urge everyone who has a stake in Ireland’s success as a premier global fund hub to get involved.

Chernobyl Children International
Chernobyl Children International (CCI) restores hope, alleviates suffering and protects current and future generations in the Chornobyl regions, by passionately advocating the rights of all of those affected. In partnership with indigenous organisations, CCI develops programmes to reduce poverty and improve the livelihoods of current and future generations of Chernobyl’s children. CCI are the sole organisation working in the Chornobyl area to be honoured with UN official NGO status. CCI is a registered charity in Ireland, Belarus, USA, Holland and UK (Pending). On 26 April 1986 at 01:23 the world changed forever when Reactor 4 in Chornobyl, Northern Ukraine, suffered a catastrophic power increase, leading to explosions in its core. The explosions sent clouds of radioactive gases and debris 7-9 kilometers into the atmosphere as 3% of the reactors 190 tons of fuel was expelled into the environment. 70% of the total fallout was deposited on Belarus. However large quantities of the fallout were deposited on Northern Ukraine and Western Russia. 5.5 million people across Belarus, Ukraine and Western Russia - including more than a million children - continue to live in contaminated zones. 9 million people living in the affected areas at the time of the disaster received the highest known exposure to radiation in the history of the atomic age. people became environmental refugees. towns and villages were deserted and bull-dozed into the ground. In January 1991, Adi Roche received a fax message which changed her life – ‘SOS appeal. For God’s sake help us to get the children out’. This fax would lead to her founding Chernobyl Children International (CCI). Her response was immediate and by the following summer she had coordinated and organised the first group of Chornobyl children to arrive in Ireland for recuperative holidays. CCI was founded in an effort to help alleviate the suffering and to offer hope to those most affected by the Chornobyl explosion.

Sharejoy
ShareJoy was founded to nurture and support young people during the pandemic following the loss of 23-year-old Irish woman Arwen Sullivan in the initial weeks of lockdown in 2020. Arwen loved fashion and understood the importance of sustainability. She continually refreshed her wardrobe through sites like Depop and vintage stores. She was a passionate wellness advocate and a dedicated yogi. Her mother Marie is sharing her story in order to cultivate greater empathy around mental illness and to hopefully start a new chapter in the conversation surrounding suicide prevention and bereavement. The founding ShareJoy team has backgrounds in media, financial services, education and technology. We want to ensure that young people and their families get the support and resources needed to navigate the social and economic consequences that the pandemic is having on youth mental health. Millions of euro worth of clothing is sitting dormant in our wardrobes. ShareJoy wants to leverage the power of pre-loved fashion in the circular economy to raise funds and reinforce the third sector. We also want to use technology in a positive and purpose driven way that is focused on time well spent.

The Rds
Over the past three centuries the RDS has grown from a small gathering of visionaries into one of Ireland's most influential bodies. It continues to pursue its mission to encourage the pursuit of excellence in agriculture, arts, science and industry throughout Ireland by educating, providing practical guidance, acknowledging success and encouraging ability. It relies on its own resources to fund its activities and on the voluntary input and support of its Members who give of their time and expertise. The Society has always prized its independence and, to achieve this, utilises its premises and grounds to the best effect to generate revenue to fund its activities. Because of its central location in Dublin, the variety and flexibility of the rental space available and the expertise on hand, the RDS has become a major venue for exhibitions, conferences and business and social gatherings of all sizes. The RDS Main Arena can host outdoor concerts for up to people and is also home to the Dublin Horse Show and Leinster Rugby.

Rcsi Cancer Society
The RCSI Cancer Society promotes cancer awareness through education and various fundraising events. We achieve this by liaising with multiple charities such as the Irish Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Ireland, and the Movember Foundation. Some of the events we have hosted for Breast Cancer Ireland include the Pink Party, Breast Cancer Awareness Day where students wear pink in solidarity and show their support, and the Great Pink Run (collaboration with the RCSI Running Club) where we encourage students to run, jog or walk to raise funds for cancer research. We also host a Movember fundraiser where students form teams and grow out their moustaches to gather support and raise funds; last year we raised over €2,500 for the Movember Foundation. We celebrate Daffodil Day, a day for us to give hope to those affected by cancer, to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society who support cancer patients by providing free advice and support, as well as by funding life-saving cancer research. The RCSI Cancer society has also caught interest in the education department. We host events such as Day in the Life of an Oncologist where students are able to interact with leading medical and surgical oncologists, and create Oncology Case Studies where students are able to learn more about various types of cancers and answer quiz questions. The RCSI Cancer Society also founded an amazing initiative called Hugs for Cancer which makes gift hampers for cancer patients, and aims to offer a 'hug' of comfort to those affected by cancer. We hope this initiative will allow RCSI students to see the direct impact of their charitable actions. Join the RCSI Cancer Society to connect with students with similar interests, learn more about the field of oncology, and promote awareness and raise funds for various charities that support those affected by cancer.
