Metis
Metis is building a new model for investing in education reform across Africa. We know that systems change is happening too slowly; Uwezo has shown that in East Africa alone, there has been no significant improvement in children's learning outcomes over the past five years. Metis tackles the root cause of this problem by supporting a movement of African leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors to build higher quality education initiatives and accelerate the pace of education innovation. First, we create a showcase for higher quality in an African context, through a Fellowship that strengthens collective impact in Nairobi's ecosystem by developing leaders. Then, we use Nairobi as a hub to impact education systems across Africa, through a Residency that brings African education leaders to learn from Nairobi's ecosystem and return to drive change in their home countries. We also support allies such as investors and government officials to learn from our leaders. Our final program, the Metis Learning Lab, provides impact measurement tools and spaces for collective action such as a co-working space, events, and an annual Pan-African Summit. Our first cohort of Fellows began in September 2017, and our first cohort of Residents begins in January 2019. More at our website:

Mutungoni Academy
Mutungoni' means 'a place of creation'- a place where a potter sits with clay and models it into a form better than he found it. We nurture our learners to be people who value good discipline, their talents, and academic excellence. Our teachers have the culture of being friendly and easy-to-talk-to so that learning, whether indoors or outside on our sprawling Athi-River acreage, is exciting and full of lasting impact. Every activity your child does is a learning experience. Offering mixed primary and high school education, we believe that a student's learning process doesn’t stem from just memorizing or listening to lectures, rather, from actively participating in the learning process which entails seeing and analyzing, discussing and collaborating - in order to comprehend and retain. Blessed To Transform
We give individuals a platform to give back to the community through paying school fees for the slum kids, feeding the kids and mentoring them. We also give organizations an opportunity to do their CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility through us. The passion to help pay fees for the slum kids came as result of me as the Founder having dropped out of school for 7yrs and well wishers helped me go back to high school at age 26yrs in form two. They paid all my fees, and today am a university graduate courtesy of well wishers. This is why am passionate to educate the less fortunate kids just as somebody educated me

Jonathan Gloag Academy
Jonathan Gloag Academy (JGA) opened its doors to 138 pupils in January 2002 in the serene campus situated on Mbagathi Way, after a special official opening by His Excellency, Retired, President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi. JGA was founded to educate the orphaned and destitute children of Kenya Children’s Homes (formerly Thomas Barnardo House) alongside fee paying pupils. From the beginning, all profits from the school have been used to enable the charitable purposes of Kenya Children’s Homes (KCH) to help provide education and care to vulnerable children. We aim at facilitating the integration of children from KCH with those from regular families, leading to the realisation that they are one. The school, managed by a team of qualified professionals, stresses the highest level of discipline and mutual respect amongst pupils, teachers and parents guided by Christian principles. Two years after it opened in 2002, in January 2004, a Junior Wing, which accommodated the Lower Primary and Kindergarten at that time, was officially opened in a colourful ceremony. In January 2006, the school expanded again with the opening of the Junior School at Akilla, which comprised of Classes 1, 2 & 3 and launched the third stream of the school. Today, the school educates 1100 children across the three campuses with Akila housing Grades 2 & 3, Funguo housing the Playgroup and the main campus housing all other grades and classes. The primary section has four streams and 90 staff members across the school enables JGA to offer both the 8-4-4 and CBC curriculums of education. The school has also excelled in co-curricular activities such as music, drama, swimming, martial arts and fine art. At JGA, we believe in giving children exposure to various aspects of life that may not be captured in the school curriculum. We do this through annual projects for pupils and a variety of school trips.
