Its brief is to analyse economic developments in Austria and internationally, thereby contributing to the establishment of a sound basis for economic policy and entrepreneurial decision-making and ensuring that economic policy discussion is carried on at an objective level. Die Christian Doppler Forschungsgesellschaft (CDG) versteht sich als Pionierin der Kooperation von Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft. Agierend an der Schnittstelle von Unternehmen und Universitäten bzw. außeruniversitären Forschungseinrichtungen garantiert die Organisationsform als Verein seit 1995 Gestaltungsspielraum und Flexibilität. Unternehmen in Hochlohnländern – wie Österreich – können im globalen Wettbewerb nur mit Technologieführerschaft reüssieren, die in der Regel insbesondere mit intensiver F&E zu erreichen und zu halten ist. Entscheidend ist dabei die Innovationskraft im globalen Wettbewerb. Der Schlüssel für diese Innovationskraft ist Wissenskoppelung, vor allem durch Forschungskooperationen mit Universitäten und Fachhochschulen. Diese Kooperationen fördern neues Wissen und neue Kompetenzen. Sie zeigen unerwartete technologische Optionen auf und ermöglichen so die Entwicklung von Technology Push Innovationen. Die CDG bietet dafür mit ihrem einzigartigen Fördermodell der anwendungsorientierten Grundlagenforschung die optimale Unterstützung: Ausgangspunkt ist die Forschungsfrage eines Unternehmens. Bei Christian Doppler Labors (CD-Labors) an einer Universität oder außeruniversitären Forschungseinrichtung, bei Josef Ressel Zentren (JR-Zentren) an einer Fachhochschule wird ebendiese Frage von einer intensiv und fokussiert arbeitenden Forschungsgruppe wissenschaftlich bearbeitet. Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft agieren dabei auf Augenhöhe und beide ziehen Nutzen aus der Kooperation. Auf diese Weise werden Innovationen möglich, die weit über reine Entwicklungstätigkeit hinausgehen. Die Förderprogramme der CDG haben unterschiedliche Laufzeiten: sieben Jahre bei CD-Labors und fünf Jahre bei JR-Zentren, wobei es vorgesehen ist, dass Unternehmen über die gesamte Länge der Laufzeit an der Forschungsgruppe beteiligt sind. The Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law, WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is the largest university-based institution in tax law worldwide. As well as carrying out research and teaching activities at WU, the Institute is involved in many national and international research projects. Being the hub for the international tax community, the Institute offers a unique academic platform for significant, innovative and inspiring tax-related research. The Institute has approx. 90 staff members, most of them academic, as well as many visiting professors and guest researchers from around the world. Our main elds of interest are corporate tax law, international tax law and European tax law, and to a growing extent tax policy, transfer pricing and VAT. Most of our research activities deal with issues in these areas. This is also true for our teaching activities. Das Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz beschäftigt sich in jährlich ca. 100 F&E-Projekten mit der Weiterentwicklung eines klimaneutralen Energiesystems, das Lebens, Wirtschafts- und Umwelträume positiv beeinflusst und hierbei die europäischen Volkswirtschaften stärkt. Das Institut als außeruniversitäre Forschungseinrichtung weist eine multidisziplinäre Struktur auf: die inter- und transdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit der drei Abteilungen des Energieinstituts – Energiewirtschaft, Energierecht, Energietechnik – ermöglicht eine umfassende Analyse des Zukunftsthemas Energie. The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights (LBI GMR) is an independent human rights research and training institution and acts as a human rights think-tank. The institute was founded in 1992 and is currently directed by Michael Lysander Fremuth (Scientific Director) and Patricia Mussi-Mailer. The institute’s work is focused on human rights research on the national, European and the international level and aims at contributing to a just global society, in which every person can enjoy civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. Founded on the concepts of freedom and equality, the principles of universality, indivisibility and interdependency of rights, of empowerment of right holders and accountability of duty bearers build the cornerstones for a human rights based approach in research. As a consequence the Institute actively pursues multidimensional and interdisciplinary pathways towards human rights issues and promotes human rights research also at the university. In light of the inseparable relation between standards and their implementation, it is the Institute's objective to offer a link between academic research and practitioners by following a translational research concept. Drawing on inputs and experiences of different groups of rightsholders as well as duty bearers we aim at developing action steps to enhance human wellbeing.
