Student And Recent Graduate Committee Of The Statistical Society Of Canada
The primary objective of the Student and Recent Graduate Committee (SARGC) is to coordinate activities for the SSC's student and recent graduate members and to act as an advocate to the SSC on their behalf. To accomplish this objective, the SARGC is responsible for organizing various events at the SSC Annual Meeting such as the student barbeque and social activities. In addition, we oversee the annual Canadian Statistics Student Conference (CSSC) that takes place the day before the annual meeting. We also maintain resources for students and recent graduates in areas such as accreditation, scholarships, employment, funding opportunities for conferences and workshops, profiles of statisticians, and links to employment opportunities. The Games Institute
The Games Institute (GI) is a multidisciplinary research centre located at the University of Waterloo. At the GI, we support games-related research in any way, shape, or form, including: narratology (stories in games), interactive technologies, digital media, culture, and AR/VR. What makes the GI unique is that we embrace innovative and interdisciplinary perspectives that redefine traditional views of these fields in order to keep pace with the quickly evolving games industry. The GI provides equipment and space for research activities. Although membership is restricted to graduate students and faculty, this does not mean that undergraduates cannot become involved with the GI. The community provides opportunities to collaborate with like-minded researchers across disciplines, work with industry partners, and be a part of multidisciplinary research groups for faculty run projects. To have GI membership means that researchers can leverage our broad network, use high-end research equipment, work in a fully collaborative interdisciplinary research space, experience regular opportunities for research sharing and cross-dissemination with like-minded researchers, work with highly influential industry partners, and boost their portfolio of research activity by collaborating on projects with our multidisciplinary research labs.

Winterlight Labs
Like a lighthouse providing early warning in the dark of night, changes in language can signal cognitive decline decades before symptoms of dementia become apparent. Currently, over 47.5 million individuals in the world have dementia, and that number is expected to triple by 2050. At WinterLight Labs, we build technology that can quickly and accurately detect signs of cognitive impairment from a sample of speech. A short 1-5 minute snippet of speech can paint a picture about the speaker's cognitive state, including lexical diversity, syntactic complexity, semantic content, and acoustics. The technology can detect the presence of Alzheimer's Disease with 82% accuracy and aphasia with 100% accuracy. Our software is based on years of experience and academic, peer-reviewed research. Our team continues to actively publish in computer science and neuroscience journals and conferences.

Act - Action On Climate Team
A research initiative in the Faculty of Environment at SFU, supported by SFU researchers and faculty as well as experts from other institutions, ACT advances adaptation research in Canada and internationally through academic, corporate and community research, events, networks and affiliations, with a core focus on analysis of adaptation options, policy recommendations and guidelines for all levels of government as well as professional practice sectors. Our topic areas include impacts resulting from current and projected climate changes in key areas of concern, encompassing water and food security, infrastructure, energy, biodiversity, population displacement, and more. We research solutions and develop resources, bringing the results together in beautifully designed, accessible reports and resources that identify policy opportunities and practical guidance on bridging from theory to action. ACT also contributes extensively to outreach and education on sustainable adaptation across Canada and internationally and works to amplify and leverage the complementary work of others. Since 2016, ACT has been developing a focus on streamlined climate actions and processes, an approach known as low carbon resilience (LCR), designed to ensure that emissions reduction and adaptation are integrated and mutually reinforcing, avoiding the risks of counteraction and failure posed by proceeding in silos. This work also seeks to identify actions with the widest levels of potential co-benefits for health, equity, biodiversity, and other areas of concern. ACT is partnered with numerous regional and national organizations as well as national and provincial professional associations, and many others. Our findings have stimulated new policymaking and research as well as widespread public and media interest. ACT’s advisers include senior policy and practice experts from government and academia.

Canadian Myeloma Research Group (CMRG) is a Canada-wide network of researchers working to develop better treatments for extending life and enhancing the quality of life for those living with myeloma and other related disorders, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure for these diseases. CMRG is a global leader in myeloma research, made up of over 50 researchers across 30 research centres. We include clinicians, academic researchers and patients working together to design and conduct research that puts patient needs first. Cipher Neutron
Cipher Neutron is a rapidly growing disruptive technology company focused on AEM Electrolysers for Green Hydrogen production and Reversible Fuel Cells for power generation and Energy Storage Solutions. Cipher Neutron is a global group of scientists, engineers, technology developers, experts in hydrogen technology, investment bankers and people that have worked in hydrogen for decades. Cipher Neutron’s innovative products, such as AEM Electrolysers and Reversible Fuel Cells have unique advantages over other Green Hydrogen production, power generation and energy storage solutions currently available in the global market. The Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolysis Technology (“AEM”) developed by Cipher Neutron is the latest technology that produces affordable high-pressure and high-volume Green Hydrogen gas. AEM is considered as the hybrid solution of existing Green Hydrogen production. Cipher Neutron has been working on the AEM electrolysis for the last 3 years and is the world’s second company to commercialize AEM Electrolysers and the first in North America. Traditional PEM electrolysers, currently the dominant source of Green Hydrogen, use highly expensive and rare earth Platinum Group Metals such as Platinum, Iridium and Ruthenium (“PGMs”). Using such PGMs in PEM electrolysers undoubtedly raises questions regarding supply chain availability as well as the sustainability of Green Hydrogen projects and their much higher costs and ESG qualifications. Mining these PGMs also entails a concerning large negative impact on the environment. Of note, each single 1-Megawatt PEM electrolyser requires 2 kilograms of PGMs which produce more than 100 tons of CO2e during their mining and refining process and will, on average, only last 5 to 7 years. Cipher Neutron’s advanced AEM Technology does not use any PGMs which makes our AEM Technology the most sustainable, affordable and environment friendly electrolyser technology.
