Institute Of Food Sciences
The National Research Council (CNR) is the main public research institution in Italy. The Institute of Food holds a unique position within CNR since it was established in 1994 to meet the need for a research centre where physicians, biochemists, food technologists and others could synergistically co-operate to improve human health through improved nutritional strategies. The missions of ISA-CNR are: • to study composition and nutritional qualities of food; • to evaluate the effects of nutrition and nutrients on human health; • to characterize and improve local food related to the Mediterranean diet; • to apply genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics to nutritional sciences. The research lines are characterized by multidisciplinary approaches and are organized in three distinct areas, including different units: 1. Diet & Human Health; 2. Food Technology; 3. Proteomic and Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry Centre (CESMA-Probio). The Institute of Food Sciences provides a good environment for participant laboratories in the program. Equipment and personnel expertise are available to conduct a broad spectrum of techniques in genetic and nutritional epidemiology, molecular and cellular biology and protein science.

Mics - Made In Italy Circolare E Sostenibile
Made in Italy Circolare e Sostenibile (MICS) is an Extended Partnership funded by MUR (Ministero dell’università e della ricerca)thanks to the funds provided by the European Union under the NextGenerationEU program and it represents one of the projects concerning the PNRR Mission 4 “Education and Research” (in Italian “Istruzione e Ricerca”). MICS’s vision is to enable a fully closed-loop, self-sufficient, self-regenerative, reliable, safe, and energy-aware design and manufacturing of Made in Italy products and services. MICS aims to carry out the foundational research that lies at the basis of this visions. It therefore proposes eight thematic areas, named “Spokes”, that need to be focused on to address the challenges that currently confront our models of design, production, consumption, as well as the End-of-Life of materials, products, production technologies and processes that are necessary for moving towards greener and circular pathways and patterns. Initially three main industries, namely Fashion, Furniture and Automation, characterizing the Italian industrial scenario will be within the scope of MICS, but there is a possibility for extending the research to other industries.

Mimesis
Mimesis is a group born in the physics environment to give services in scientific computing. Mimesis is formed by people that work in different scientific fields but have knowledge about scientific computing and are able to program high performance parallel computers which are owned and managed directly by the group. This means that Mimesis can bridge the gap between people having a problem and the machine that can solve it, taking the burden of developing the algorithm, writing the program and executing it on specialised hardware. Mimesis started from the efforts of three physicists, but its aim is to become interdisciplinary as one of the strong points of this group is the capability to understand the problem using the language of the customer.

Since then it has evolved in a complex and dynamic structure, with a lively exchange of high quality staff between other universities and industries, and with an excellent scientific production. Prof. Alfio Quarteroni was the first head of MOX, serving from 2002 to 2013 and again from 2018 to 2022. From 2014 to 2017, Prof. Luca Formaggia headed the MOX Laboratory. Since 2023, the head of MOX Laboratory has been Prof. Paola F. Antonietti.
