Icb

Bbmri.Be
The Biobanking and Biomolecular Resources Research Infrastructure (BBMRI) was one of the first projects entering the European Research Infrastructure preparatory phase of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) roadmap, a strategic instrument that aims at overcoming the limits due to fragmentation of individual policies and that provides Europe with the most up-to-date research infrastructures funded by the European Commission (EC). The scientific participation of Belgium in BBMRI-ERIC involves the three Belgian network biobank initiatives i.e. Belgian Virtual Tumourbank project assigned to the Belgian Cancer Registry (BVT-BCR), Biothèque de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles (BWB) and the Flemish Biobank Network (CMI). Together, this network connects 13 biobanks that are linked to public institutions such as hospitals, universities and research centers. All these biobanks and networks are also included in the Directory of BBMRI-ERIC. BBMRI.be was set up in order to support the ever-increasing need of research with regard to quality control, access, transparency and interconnectedness of biobanks. The Belgian involvement in the pan-European biobanking project BBMRI is guaranteed thanks to the annual membership contribution, on Mr. Philippe Courard’s initiative, by BELSPO and the appointment of the Belgian National Node Coordinator by the Belgian Minister for Social affairs and Public Health. The scientific participation of Belgium in BBMRI-ERIC is exerted by a national node, hosted at the Belgian Cancer Registry, which collaborates closely with the central executive management office of BBMRI-ERIC in Graz, Austria. The Board of Directors of BBMRI.be, chaired by the President of BBMRI.be (Prof. S. Bekaert) is responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic vision of BBMRI.be. The scientific and administrative management of the National Node of BBMRI.be is coordinated by the National Node Director (A. Debucquoy).

Methodsnet
OUR DNA We are a global not-for-profit membership-based association, bringing together methods experts and methods users across multiple disciplines. Our mission is to provide global accessibility to cutting-edge research methods training, to facilitate methods development and innovation, and to promote pluralism in research methodologies. WHY METHODSNET? Because methods matter! Indeed there is no strong research without strong methods. Futures Through Design

Ku Leuven Clinical Pharmacology And Pharmacotherapy Research Group
The area of interest of our research group, Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy, is the safe and efficient use of medicinal products – including small molecules, biologicals and vaccines – in humans. In our clinical pharmacology studies, most frequently in early stage development, mainly healthy subjects or well-defined patient populations are involved. In our regulatory science research, we focus on a) the design and conduct of clinical trials (linked to the Clinical Trials Centre of the University Hospitals Leuven); b) regulatory and legal aspects of medicinal product development, intellectual property rights; and c) health economic aspects of medicinal products (economic evaluation of medicinal products, policy relating to market access of medicinal products). In our pharmacotherapy studies, the focus is on the use of medicinal products in daily patient care (both ambulatory and in a hospital setting), while in our pharmaceutical care/clinical pharmacy studies, we explore the role of the pharmacist in the rational use of medicinal products in the ambulatory setting (pharmaceutical care) as well as in the hospital (clinical pharmacy). In summary, our research group offers state-of-the-art expertise from first-in-man studies up to commercialization, intellectual property issues and regulatory steps included, and the subsequent daily use of medicinal products in an ambulatory or hospital setting. This expertise is open for academic (i.e. intradepartmental, interdepartmental and inter-university), governmental/regulatory and industrial collaborations.
