Isgan
The International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN) creates a strategic platform to support high-level government attention and action for the accelerated development and deployment of smarter, cleaner electricity grids around the world. ISGAN recognizes that robust, reliable, and smart electric grids play a key role in enabling greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions through the- Management of electricity demand - Integration of growing supplies of both utility-scale and distributed small-scale renewable energy systems - Accommodation of an increasing number of electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles - Improvement of operational efficiency - Application of energy-efficient technologies at their full potential. Smart grids also enable better utilization of existing electricity generation assets. In coordination with the International Energy Agency (IEA) and others, ISGAN seeks to improve the potential for smart grid technologies at country, regional, and global levels. OUR VISION: ISGAN’s vision is to accelerate progress on key aspects of smart grid policy, technology, and investment through voluntary participation by governments and their designees in specific projects and programs. Its activities center foremost on those aspects of the smart grid where governments have regulatory authority, expertise, convening power, or other leverage, focusing on five principal areas- Policy standards and regulation - Finance and business models - Technology system development - Workforce skills and knowledge - Users and consumers engagement. IGSAN facilitates dynamic knowledge sharing, technical assistance, peer review and, where appropriate, project coordination among government participants.

Geoera
GeoERA “Establishing the European Geological Surveys Research Area to deliver a Geological Service for Europe" is a transnational research programme co-funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020 Programme, initiated through EuroGeoSurveys, the organisation of European Geological Surveys, and extended to all Geological Survey Organisations on the European continent. It will provide integrated information on a pan-European level on geo-energy, groundwater and mineral raw material resources. It will also develop common assessment frameworks and methodologies for supporting the European national and regional policy-makers for a better understanding and management of the water‐energy‐raw materials nexus to determine potential impacts and risks of subsurface use. GeoERA is coordinated by the Geological Survey of Netherlands,(TNO) and supported by a consortium of 45 partner organisations, both national and regional GSOs from over 30 countries. National and regional GSOs are the main institutions responsible in European countries for the collection, management, interpretation and delivery of data and information relating to the land and marine subsurface, as well as subsurface resources.

Fems - Federation Of European Materials Societies
FEMS, the Federation of European Materials Societies, is a not-for profit association of European materials societies and associations covering science and engineering in various fields including metals, polymers, ceramics, composites, glasses, nano and biomaterials in 22 different countries. The aims of the association are:* promote the wide dissemination of scientific, technical and other knowledge relating to materials.* to facilitate the communication and exchange of information between its members.* to co-ordinate the activities of member societies in order to make optimum use of resources.* to ensure optimum visibility of materials science and engineering in governmental and non–governmental organisations, in the economy and in the academic environment.* contribute to developing links and collaboration between RTOs and industry. The size of the FEMS member societies varies enormously, from fewer than 50 to more than members. The total number of materials scientists and engineers represented by the FEMS Member Societies is approximately However, most of the societies have fewer than 500 members and inevitably have limited influence. Perhaps the most important aim of FEMS is to overcome the fragmentation of the materials science and engineering discipline in Europe in terms of countries, specialities and disciplines. In contrast with the USA, where there are relatively few professional materials societies, Europe has over thirty (16 in Germany alone). By strengthening the interaction between Materials Scientists and Engineers across Europe, between different European Materials Societies, and between Member Societies and the European Union, FEMS aims to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge and provide the critical mass needed to exert influence on a European scale.
