The idea for the foundation of the Bodensee Innovation Cluster (BIC) lies in the fundamental conviction that the Lake Constance region as one of the most innovative technology regions in Europe has extensive explicit as well as implicit knowledge about the framework conditions, consequences and above all opportunities in the context of the digital transformation in the economy and industry Company. Against this background, the Leadership Excellence Institute Zeppelin I LEIZ is pursuing the goal of promoting the future viability of highly industrialized and highly innovative locations such as the Lake Constance region by setting up the BIC. The Bodensee Innovation Cluster brings together research institutions, technology companies and other relevant stakeholders in the region in such a way that topic-specific expertise is systematically and continuously identified, focused and made available for economic as well as societal benefit, both regionally and nationally. Unparalleled symbiosis of research, development, practice and qualification - Europe's modernest open-air research laboratory for load securement F&T LaSiSe gGmbH is a unique research location in North-Rhine Westfalia accommodating a training academy, a research institute and an outdoor research lab for road trials for all vehicle classes over an area of just less than 12.5 hectares. It offers services ranging from drivers' orientation and safety training, commercial drivers' qualification, certification and consulting services to research activities. All premises including the test track for HGVs and all other commercial vehicles are equipped with state-of-the-art measuring technology. Three modules are available for road tests: Various conditions for load securing can be simulated in road tests on the “Kreisbahn”, “Hügelstrecke” and “Dynamikplatte” (circular course, hill track and dynamic motion platform); the data measured in the process can then be scientifically assessed. The rooms in the training building which is situated in the centre of the outdoor research laboratory, are used for seminars. Therefore, participants will benefit from the most modern education conditions with the best possible practical training opportunities.

Der Lehrstuhl für Informations- und Automatisierungssysteme für die Prozess- und Werkstofftechnik (IAT) der RWTH Aachen (ehemals Lehrstuhl für Prozessleittechnik) vertritt das Themenfeld der industriellen Automation in Forschung und Lehre. Ein Schwerpunkt der Forschungsarbeiten ist die Beschreibung von leittechnischen Konzepten mit Metamodellen und die Handhabung dieser Metamodelle mit formalen Methoden. Neuartige Informationskonzepte zur durchgängigen Unterstützung des Engineerings, der optimierten Prozessführung und des Anlagenmanagements im Life-Cycle einer Produktionsanlage stehen im Fokus. Alle entwickelten Konzepte werden prototypisch in einer selbstentwickelten objektbasierten Open-Source Plattform für Steuerungen validiert. Der Lehrstuhl arbeitet eng mit Herstellern, Anwendern und Verbänden der Automatisierungs- und Prozesstechnik zusammen und unterstützt durch aktive Mitwirkung die nationale und internationale Normung im gesamten Bereich der Automatisierungstechnik.
