Along with this SCAAI engages in interdisciplinary research to address pertinent issues that could involve a huge spectrum such as finance and banking to healthcare. Primary aims of this center include but are not limited to: 1. To develop novel techniques in various domains of AI (machine learning, deep learning, probabilistic reasoning etc.) 2. Application of these algorithms to a variety of problems specifically focusing in three domains namely healthcare, NLP and robotics. Translation of the above two aims into novel product ideas for start-up industries and opportunity generation for consultancy to industry. In the initial phase, specifically, we plan to have three separate verticals : i) AI Research: to carry out cutting-edge research on development of novel AI methodologies and techniques. The funding for specific requirements for a research project will be obtained through applying to research grants from funding agencies such as DST, DBT, SERB, AICTE etc. ii) AI applications: to develop solutions to industrial and research problems with a focus on healthcare and robotics domains. The sub-domains under healthcare will include (but not limited to) medical imaging (with SCMIA), biomedical sciences (with SSBS), assistive technology development and precision medicine. We envisage that the methodologies developed as part of the AI Research vertical will be employed by AI Applications vertical to find solutions to various problems. AI education: The AI education vertical will provide training and education to industry and academia on various subdomains of AI (primarily Deep Learning).

Centre For Excellence For Biopharmaceutical Technology
The Centre of Excellence for Biopharmaceutical Technology (CBT) was established at IIT Delhi in 2015 by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, in recognition of the importance of biotechnology for India, particularly that of producing affordable biotech therapeutics. The primary motivation for establishing CBT is the recognition that pharmaceutical account for more than 14% exports of the country and are a major focus for the Make in India campaign. Other drivers include the facts that commercial production of the biopharmaceutical products is non-trivial and that affordability of these products of India and other developing countries is extremely poor. If India is to repeat its success in pharmaceutical manufacturing into production of bio-pharmaceuticals then it requires creation of the required technologies to enable this transition. The mission of the CBT is to provide a network and linkage to establish and facilitate academic-industry collaborations and partnerships that will accelerate the discovery and development of new biopharmaceuticals and related process. The vision of CBT is to deliver innovation in biopharmaceutical technology to effectively address the challenges faced by the Indian biotech industries and thereby assist in the "Make in India" initiative by making India the global hub of manufacturing economical, safe and efficacious therapeutics.
