Nus Situated Goal Pursuit Lab
Goals are desirable end-states people want to maintain (e.g, staying healthy) or achieve (e.g, academic excellence). More often than not, people pursue important goals in various intrapersonal (e.g, temptations, prior goal pursuit efforts) and interpersonal (e.g, others’ goal pursuit, social interaction) contexts. Consistent with the perspective of situated social cognition (Smith & Semin, 2004), our lab examines how the various aspects of the goal pursuit process are dynamically shaped by the relevant context. Cellwave Technologies
Conventional cell sorters feature 'drop in air' sorting, where cells are encapsulated inside a droplet that falls between electrically charged plates which deflect the droplet into the desired container. This process is highly stressful to cells and can kill many of the sorted cells. We re-imagine fluorescence cell sorting using acoustic waves inside a microfluidic cartridge. An acoustic wave is focused to the size of a single cell to gently isolate target cells. CellWaveTM is a gentle alternative to drop in air cell sorters that ensures the viability of even the most fragile cell types.

Located at NTU, the SJ-NTU Corporate Lab was officially launched on 31st July 2018 by Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister for National Development and Second Minister for Finance. The NRF facilitates the setting up of corporate labs via public-private partnerships. The SJ-NTU Corporate Lab is the 12th supported by NRF and the sixth such corporate lab at NTU. The key objectives of the SJ-NTU Corporate Lab will be to translate research outcomes into practical and viable solutions that are focused around three core themes: digitalisation; green and sustainable urban solutions; and future of the industry and productivity. The multidisciplinary Lab will include NTU scientists from various fields and Surbana Jurong professionals. In its fully operational state, the lab will have 70 researchers, including NTU undergraduates and PhD students. For a start, researchers will explore underground storage spaces for storing liquefied natural gas (LNG) in industrial and urban areas so that space aboveground can be freed up for other uses. The storage of LNG within these spaces will be kept at below 162 degrees Celsius and aim to minimize heat losses. Asia’s first ‘Cold Lab’ that will develop ‘Cold Energy Capture’ and ‘Cold Energy Storage’ technologies will also be set
