Torlak Shipyard
Torlak Family, has established its relationship with industry in the early 1900’s thereby building wooden vessels in Black Sea shores. By passing down its experience, Torlak Shipyard is continuing its service for the maritime industry successfully for over 100 years. The family founded their first company in 1970 at Golden Horn / Istanbul and carried forward their activities there until moving to its currently located region, Tuzla in 1983. Since 1983, Torlak Shipyard expedited its additional investments and technological developments in Tuzla, where is assigned as new Shipyard Area by the government. Shipyard is serving for the maritime industry at the highest level with two newbuilding slipways and one of the biggest floating docks in the region and has succesfully constructed and delivered more than 60 newbuilding projects in different types up to now.

About Us The waterfront site where the current shipyard sits has been in the Ergun family since the 1950’s. Originally the setting of their holiday home, the family took the opportunity to develop it into the Ursa Shipyard in 1983 after the area was rezoned in a government move to shift the growing commercial shipping industry out of the city centre. In 2005, the current President, Sedat Ergun, took over the reins of the company and transformed the shipyard into the advanced technology facility it is today, dedicated to the construction and refit of the world’s finest superyachts. At the same time a new brand, Dunya Yachts, was born to compete with leading northern European shipyards in the construction of large yachts. Since modernisation, the yard has completed the build of the universally acclaimed 73m yacht Axioma and over the last 10 years established itself as the centre for refits for large yachts in Turkey with works completed to more than 25 yachts up to 72m in length. Facilities The Dunya Shipyard has of climate-controlled sheds including the only covered, climate-controlled dry-dock in Turkey. Navis Design & Engineering
Navis Design and Engineering is established by three naval architects and marine engineers. The owners are in the industry since 1997. All of the partners started working in one of the leading design companies of Turkey after the graduation and over the last 10 years worked as the design group managers of the company. We have been into nearly all kind of design and shipbuilding business. Starting with the market boom of Oil/Chemical Tankers, we started building for European owners such as Unifleet from Netherlands, Herning from Denmark, Petrogas from Spain and such companies from Sweden, Germany, France and others. In this market boom we worked in the design of more than 150 ships, mostly chemical Tankers, but also container vessels, general cargo vessels, tugs, navy supply vessels, landing crafts and passenger boats from concept to delivery documents. Beyond these, we have done project management for new building vessels, procurement jobs for the shipyards and expertizes for the banks, conversion projects. As Navis Design and Engineering, we're giving consultancy services to shipyards for their newbuildings, preparing concept designs and bid packages for shipowners and shipyards for new quotations (from tankers to general cargos, barges, pontoons, research vessels, patrol vessels etc), all kind of engineering calculations varying from intact/damaged stability to launching calculations, inclining tests, delivery manuals of the ships as well as procurement (workshop drawings, nestings, 3D pipe modelling, isometric pipe modelling, material lists, project management and cost estimation).
