Selain menjadi hala tuju KBS, penggubalan Pelan Strategik ISN 2015 – 2025 ini menjadi sangat penting kepada arena sukan negara yang sentiasa berdepan dengan cabaran kemajuan sains, perubatan dan inovasi sukan dari negara-negara lain yang sentiasa bersaing dalam kemajuan sukan negara masing-masing demi menjulang dan memartabatkan maruah negara dalam bidang sukan. Dengan mengambil kira isu-isu dan cabaran semasa yang berkaitan dengan pembangunan dan perkembangan sukan. Kajian semula Pelan Strategik 2016 – 2020 dibentuk bagi merintis kecemerlangan dan kegemilangan melalui perancangan dan pelaksanaan program secara strategik dan terancang. Pelan ini akan dijadikan panduan dan sumber rujukan pihak pengurusan atasan dan warga ISN bagi merealisasikan hasrat untuk menjadikan ISN sebuah institut yang unggul dan bertaraf dunia di dalam pembangunan dan pengaplikasian bidang sains, perubatan dan inovasi sukan negara demi memajukan prestasi atlet dan sukan amnya.
