الاتحاد العربي للانترنت والاتصالات هو منظمة عربية دولية تعمل في إطار مجلس الوحدة الاقتصادية العربية – جامعة الدول العربية تنادى لـتأسيسها مجموعة من الشركات العاملة في قطاع الانترنت و الاتصالات في بلدان متعددة من الوطن العربي بهدف خلق تجمع مهني يعنى بتطوير هذا القطاع من جهة و يتبنى تحقيق مصالح هذه الشركات من جهة أخرى, يجمعهم في ذلك حب الوطن و الرغبة في المساهمة في خلق صناعة عربية متطورة في قطاع تكنولوجيا المعلومات و الاتصالات تجعل من الوطن العربي لاعبا أساسيا و مصدرا رئيسيا لمخرجات هذه الصناعة في العالم. الرؤية: أن يصبح الاتحاد هو التجمع الرائد على مستوى المنطقة العربية في قطاع تكنولوجيا المعلومات و الاتصالات بالشكل الذي يمكنه من دعم نمو و تطور دور قطاع الأعمال فيها. و أن نساهم بالنهوض بقطاع الأعمال العربي في تقنية المعلومات و الاتصالات لخلق صناعة معلوماتية عربية متطورة و بما يؤهلها لعب دور إقليمي في تطوير صناعة تقنية المعلومات والاتصالات و خدماتها على المستوى العالمي. و أن يلعب دورا أساسيا في إتاحة وتسهيل عملية وصول أبناء الدول العربية إلى مصادر المعلومات و الخدمات المختلفة من خلال شبكة الانترنت مما يمكنهم من المشاركة و الاستفادة من تطور مجتمع المعلومات و الاندماج في الاقتصاد العالمي. المهام: القيام بتمثيل قطاع الأعمال في تقنية المعلومات و الاتصالات و خدماتها على مستوى الوطن العربي وبما يليق بهذا القطاع. القيام بكل ما من شأنه المساهمة في تطوير صناعة الانترنت و خدماتها في الوطن العربي من حيث الجودة والتكلفة والاتاحة. تشجيع التعاون و التكامل و التنسيق و تبادل الخبرات فيما بين أعضاء الاتحاد و بما يخدم قيام صناعة تقنية المعلومات والإتصالات عربية متطورة. السعي لوضع أسس اعتمادية ( Accreditation ) و معيرة (Standardization ) للخدمات و الشركات الأعضاء و المشاركة مع الحكومات في استصدار الأنظمة و اللوائح التنظيمية المتعلقة بالانترنت و الاتصالات في مختلف الدول العربية. مساعدة الحكومات في الدول العربية على تطوير البنية التحتية لشبكة الانترنت فيها بالتعاون مع الشركاء الاقليمين ورفدها بالخبرات والاستشارات اللازمة.
