Kennewick Irrigation District

KID was originally formed as a Special Purpose District in the State of Washington in 1917, but it originates much earlier, dating back to the late 1800s. The modern KID of today began in the early 1950s when the United States Bureau of Reclamation, in partnership with the District and farmers, built the canal system still used today. KID diverts water from the Yakima River at Prosser Dam. Water travels 11 miles down a diversion canal along the river to Chandler. There, hydraulic pumps as large as a garage send it under the river and halfway up the side of the Horse Heaven Hills to the head of the main canal. The Kennewick Division of the Yakima Project is a combined irrigation and power development project that includes the 12 megawatt Chandler Power Plant and Pump Station. The District serves over 20,200 acres of land within a acre boundary. KID was initially built to serve the agricultural community in the Tri-Cities area. Today, the majority of ratepayers live in residential developments, and the change from farmland to urbanization is expected to continue into the foreseeable future. What is the Yakima Project? KID is one of six irrigation districts served by the US Bureau of Reclamation’s Yakima Project. The project extends for 175 miles on each side of the Yakima River. Water comes from the river and is stored in five reservoirs in and around the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains. About acres are irrigated with water from the Yakima Project. From the head end, the water begins a trip of more than 40 miles to the end of the main canal, where it empties into the Columbia River. Kern Delta Water District

Kern Delta Water District was formed in December of 1965 under Division 13 of the State Water Code for the purposes of protecting the Kern River Water Rights serving certain lands within the District, and to provide a means for contracting water through the State Water Project (SWP). Although the District was formed in a relatively recent period of time, the canal systems that provide water to customers have existed since the late 1800's. Kern Delta currently serves Kern River and State water to approximately irrigated acres through five different water rights: Kern Island, Buena Vista, Stine, Farmers, and Eastside Canals. The total length of these canals is over 126 miles, and all water is transported via gravity flow. In 2014 the State of California passed the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). Kern Delta Water District has partnered with the City of Bakersfield and the Kern County Water Agency's "Improvement District No. 4"(ID4) in forming the Kern River Groundwater Sustainability Agency in order to provide a framework for groundwater management. Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative (MVEC) was organized December 27, 1935. MVEC is a private, nonprofit electric utility owned by the members it serves and was established to provide reliable, electric service at the lowest possible cost. MVEC serves over members in the Eastern Iowa Counties of Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson and Jones and portions of five surrounding counties. The Cooperative is a nationwide leader in smart grid technology that has significantly improved service reliability, making MVEC one of the most reliable electric utilities in Iowa. This investment created a need for greater bandwidth to collect the wealth of data available and to expand the network to communicate with line equipment outside of the substations. In 2016, MVEC's board of directors approved the design and construction of a high speed fiber optic system to meet the Cooperative's bandwidth needs and to improve the quality of life of its members via a direct fiber connection to each member's home or business. The MVlink fiber optic initiative parallels the extension of electric services into rural Iowa over 80 years ago. Today, the need for rural Iowan's to be connected to the world is as great as the need for electricity was back in the 1930's. Chartered in 1912, Marin Water is California’s first and the oldest municipal water district. Today, we provide local water service to more than people in central and southern Marin. About 75% of our water supply originates from rainfall on acres of our protected Mt. Tamalpais Watershed and in the grassy hills of west Marin. Rainfall from the watershed flows into the District’s seven reservoirs. The water is treated at our treatment plants and then travels through our extensive distribution system, including 908 miles of pipes, 130 storage tanks and 97 pump stations before making its way to our customers. The District also supplements its water supply with water from the Sonoma County Water Agency, which comes from the Russian River system in Sonoma County.
