Ethipet
EthiPet designs and develops welfare based accommodation modules for cats in out-of-home environments. Cats are territorial animals that rely heavily on their primary senses to determine if their environment is safe. Unlike dogs, they are not pack animals and prefer not to be in close proximity to unfamiliar cats. Cats rely on their acute sense of smell to detect other cats before they see them. The presence of an unknown animal will almost always stress a cat. EthiPet’s patent pending segregated airflow system removes odours from every room within each module, without traversing adjacent modules. This means unfamiliar cats cannot smell each other. Most importantly, the segregated airflow system virtually eliminates the risk of contagion spread. Although cats have good eyesight, this sense is secondary to smell when considering territory. If a cat does not smell another cat, it will quickly settle. EthiPet modules are installed in galley style arrangements on either side of a central corridor. Cats are not disturbed by other cats across the corridor, because they cannot smell them and remain unaffected by their presence. Cats do not generally use voice to communicate with other cats unless they are defending territory. The EthiPet self-contained, enclosed modules reduce sound transfer and further enhance the individual environment that cats instinctively seek.
