About A. Darlene Smith

My name is Darlene Smith. I have a Bachelor's Degree in K-8 from Carson Newman College and a Master's Degree in Supervision and Administration from East Tennessee State University. The last year, I have been training teachers on how to use technology for teaching and learning in the college setting. Prior to that, I was an Instructional Facilitator for the Hamblen County School System. I spent eleven years molding and shaping future educators at Walters State Community College. Prior to teaching at WSCC, I worked in the Grainger County and Hamblen County School Systems teaching second, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. I was also the Pre-School Director of Centenary United Methodist Church for three years. In 2012-2013, I was honored to receive the Distinguished Faculty Award from WSCC and recognized as one of the first two Mobile Learning Fellows at Walters State. In 2017, I became an Apple Distinguished Educator. My vision is to change the world; one child at a time!
