Background
About Aalind Singh
At 12, I turned my backyard into a dog paradise. My vet dad's clients complained about leaving their pets in the heat during weekend retreats. Solution? A dog-sitting service. Three months later, I had my dream toy and a realization: human emotions drive innovation. This spark led me to Emotion AI. During undergrad, when my uncle's kid taught me to build sentiment detection models, I couldn't wait to share with my Google Developers Group friends. We created a social media scraping tool that reshaped our cultural fest strategy by accessing the level of excitement around each event. Result? A hit event and proof that AI sentiment analysis has real-world impact.Curious about business applications, I landed an internship in Singapore with a French professor. Our mission? Evaluate consumer sentiments on a new Pepsi flavor. I built an AI model to scrape forums and social media, bridging marketing and machine learning.Personal loss redirected my focus. When Grandma passed, Grandpa was left alone in an empty house most of the day as my parents will be working. I used my emotional AI knowledge to build interactive humanoids and avatar-based virtual companions for the elderly and mental health patients struggling with loneliness. Technology became a tool for connection. At Sentient, I've discovered the importance of hyperlocalization in emotional expression. Cultures and languages play an important role in how emotions are expressed in different countries. Now, I'm proud to digitally democratize access to local language AI models. It's not just about technology; it's about breaking down emotional barriers across cultures. My goal next? To democratize mental health support in local languages globally. Because everyone, regardless of location or language, deserves to process their emotions effectively. Just think of an AI-based friendly-faced Virtual Counsellor mental health mobile app, listening to you vocalize your inner thoughts, while also matching you to private therapists, well-fitted to your personality traits and needs. Anonymous, affordable, accessible. A simple bridge between isolation and 1-1 therapy. From a backyard doghouse to AI crossing cultural divides, I'm on a mission to make technology speak the language of the heart.
