About Aamir Dar

With nearly 8 years of frontline and leadership experience across the care sector, I bring a wealth of knowledge, proven results, and a deep commitment to improving the lives of young people facing challenging circumstances. Throughout my career, I have worked as both a Support Worker, Care Manager and a Placements Officer. I oversaw two supported accommodation provisions as a Provision Manager. These settings supported a diverse group of young people, including those newly in care, Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC), young offenders, and individuals who left home due to complex family or social issues. Due to my hands-on experience with high-risk young people, including UASC, young offenders, and those newly in care, this has equipped me with a deep understanding of safeguarding procedures, risk management, and early intervention and this enables me to be an appropriate Designated Safeguarding Lead. In my role as a Placements Officer, I manage the entire placement process, from referral acceptance through to supporting young people in developing the skills necessary for independent living. I managed this by ensuring that they are placed at an appropriate provision which will meet their needs and where they will best engage with services that will aid them with their journey to independence. I maintain strong, effective relationships with local authorities and external partners, consistently securing placements. I have also mentored young people with complex needs, including those coming out of custody or who were disengaged from education or support. Through consistent and compassionate engagement, I built strong relationships and helped guide them toward positive pathways, such as education, training, or employment. In a previous role as a Provision Manager, I worked intensively with young offenders in highly challenging circumstances, consistently achieving successful outcomes. I am driven by a strong belief in the potential of every young person, regardless of their background, and I’m passionate about creating opportunities that lead to stability, growth, and independence.
