About Aapo Herrala

I am an experienced designer, expert in visual UI design and a design system professional, advocate and enthusiast. I started my working career in a small games company. It was a good place to start. We mainly worked on Nintendo DS games, which meant quite a bit of technical limitations involved. Achieving the best results required a close relationship between the design and the dev. Since then I have worked on both the web and the mobile design. The most I have experience in web designing. Though I am not a front-end developer, I dare saying I have worthy HTML & CSS and moderate JS capabilities too. I have always had an urge to understand good enough the implementation side of things. I feel that actually is the key to be able to craft polished and feasible designs. What is also paying dividends for the design system work now, are my 5+ years overseeing, reviewing and sparring the works of other designers while working on large web service and mobile app level designs. I have seen a ton of designs, aiming to solve so many different problems and needs.
