About Aaron Bates

I am a third-generation contractor. My love for construction started as a 10-year-old boy on job sites with my Dad and Grandpa where I was anxious to learn all I could. Shortly after High School, I worked for a company out of Merrimack, NH where I was able to travel parts of the country working on LDS Temples. I learned the granite and tile industry from the multiple years of working with that company doing marble and granite cladding on the exterior of Reno NV, Baton Rouge LA, Omaha NE, and Tri-Cities WA temples. After getting married, Janna and I moved from the Tri-Cities to Omaha, NE, where I worked for a company specializing in unique marble and granite work in the commercial industry. During my time there, I had the opportunity to work on significant projects like the interior of the First National Bank Tower of Omaha, focusing on natural stone tile and wall cladding. In early 2008, I went back out on my own, fabricating countertops and installing tile—despite it being the worst timing ever due to the housing crisis. However, I managed to make it through, and as demand for my services grew, I partnered with a couple of local business owners, leading to significant opportunities. During this time, I acquired R&J Construction Services from the previous owner after working together for many years. Over time, the tile and granite industry became monotonous for me, and I realized that my true interest lay in the entire construction process, rather than just a few parts of the complex puzzle. In 2017, Janna and I made the decision to leave the partnership behind and focus on being a general contractor. As the President of R&J Construction Services, I lead a dedicated team in delivering high-quality construction projects with a focus on innovative solutions like Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF). With a deep understanding of the construction industry, I've successfully managed projects across various sectors, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. My experience spans domestic and international work, including projects in Brazil, where I have honed my skills in managing complex operations. I am passionate about building not just structures, but also strong relationships with clients, ensuring their vision is realized through careful planning and execution.
