About Aaron Brecher

I focus my practice on investigations, compliance, and white collar defense, as well as cybersecurity and data privacy issues. I'm passionate about helping individuals and companies through some of their most difficult and sensitive challenges: government investigations and enforcement actions. My work has included defending investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Washington Attorney General's Office, and other state and federal agencies. I've represented clients in a wide range of civil and criminal litigation. I've also conducted internal investigations on matters ranging from data breaches to harassment to suspected environmental testing fraud. Beyond my compliance and enforcement work, I represent clients in antitrust, intellectual property, and securities litigation, as well as qui tam litigation under the False Claims Act. I maintain an active pro bono practice that has included presenting a successful petition for clemency to the Washington Clemency and Pardons Board on behalf of a prisoner serving life without parole, representing an indigent criminal defendant charged with federal arms export offenses, and representing a Washington state prisoner before the Ninth Circuit in successfully appealing the dismissal of his civil rights claims. I tried his case before the district court on remand. Before entering private practice, I worked as a Law Clerk on both the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
