Since 2010, I have written professionally for different Northern Californian weekly newspapers including the San Jose Metro, Santa Cruz Weekly, San Francisco Bay Guardian, East bay Express, Good Times Santa Cruz and the Sacramento News and Review. My specialties include music, food, art and culture. I am particularly proficient in interviewing, and conduct in-depth interviews, which translates to the pieces I write. My writing has an easy, narrative flow that brings the personality of the interviewees to life, and puts their story into a larger context. Before beginning my freelance writing career, I was a fiction writer and documentary filmmaker. Consequentially, there is always a story within my articles, even if it is just an interview with a band about their latest album, or a review of a new restaurant. I am always on the lookout for more freelance work. Editors enjoy working with me because I never miss a deadline, communicate with them clearly what I am going to do, and am able to tailor my style to fit their publication. In addition to writing about art and culture for weeklies, I have written copy for businesses for their websites, brochures and press releases. I can provide writing that is professional and specific, or causal and personable, all depending on the needs of the client.
