About Aaron Carpenter

I am a highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and health equity driven public health professional with 4+ years of proven excellence in policy, science, and health equity. My professional experiences have been cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary, ranging from policy, philanthropy, government, association, nonprofit, clinical trials, and neuroscience. I am interested in the intersections of race, the social and corporate determinants of health, and the sociopolitical impact of public policy on our healthcare systems. Within these interest areas, I am passionate about food systems and food equity, housing justice, mental health parity, environmental health, Medicaid/Medicare reform and healthcare access. I intend to continue contributing to a more equitable and just healthcare system through building and contributing to meaningful relationships and coalitions, centering community needs and voices, and advocating based upon my lived experiences. Academic Background: I am a graduate of the MPH, Health Policy and Management program at UNC Chapel Hill. Further, I am a graduate of Appalachian State University who received a B.S. in Psychology with a triple concentration in Natural Science, Health Studies, and Sustainability, a B.S in Cellular and Molecular Biology, and minors in Gerontology, General Business, and Public Health. My interdisciplinary academic background has provided me with a nuanced understanding of the U.S. healthcare system and the various populations and sectors involved.
