I am a Senior in the school of Biological Sciences at Washington State University. I previously obtained a bachelors in Animal Science in hopes to be a veterinarian but instead gained an understanding of how the standard American diet contributes to the overwhelming amount of unnecessary human and animal suffering. Diseases such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, obesity, and diabetes are only increasing and cost a great deal to the individual and economy. I plan to become a doctor and empower my patients with the knowledge to make healthy lifestyle choices that are right for them. While also bringing public attention to the interplay between profit motives and healthcare to reduce human suffering and make healthcare more affordable for all.
