Background
About Aaron Gillespie
Dr. Gillespie earned a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of Denver. He also holds dual licenses as a Psychologist & Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado, as well as certification as a Clinical Trauma Professional II/II. He is a member of the BHIP program offered by the US Department of Veteran Affairs in Golden, Co, the VA Eastern Colorado’s TraumaLab faculty & the Comprehensive DBT team serving & empowering the VA’s most acute, high service utilizers. He has spent the last decade specializing in Trauma & Recovery & is deeply passionate about promoting recovery in- & -out of the clinical space. This includes advocating for & providing comprehensive trauma education for mental health professionals, while promoting client safety & empowerment through the application & advancement of trauma-informed care & intervention. Given this focus, he is often in support of underserved individuals who present with a range of concerns rooted in both current & often prolific histories of interpersonal trauma, as well as current & former service members who present with many of the same concerns in addition to MST, combat trauma & the disorienting weight of moral injury. These experiences have endeared him to biopsychosocial treatment modalities seeking to empower individuals to cultivate their natural resilience, engage with their couple/family, spiritual, peer & community supports, & ultimately, increase their potential for post-traumatic growth in the wake of life’s most challenging experiences. Dr. Gillespie has had the opportunity to establish a diverse training background in a variety of non-profit, group, IOP & university settings working with individuals & couples across the lifespan with an array of presenting concerns. This has provided him with a foundation of clinical flexibility upon which he quickly & collaboratively builds empowering relationships with individuals from a spectrum of idiographic & cultural backgrounds, as well as attuned, comprehensive conceptualizations of their needs in vivo. He has had the privilege of garnering this experience with the support of interdisciplinary teams & supervisors from an array of theoretical/philosophical backgrounds & treatment modalities, including non-ordinary state psychotherapy. He looks forward to networking within a web of other passionate MH, medical & support professionals who look to explore & expand the new frontiers of the healing sciences.
