About Aaron Goldsmith

My desire is to be a political commentator, analyst and journalist. I have experience interviewing such people as Qito Maggi (head of Canadian pollster Mainstreet), Richard Burgon (Member of Parliament for Leeds East) and various councillors from across the nation. I also have experience writing analysis based on current events, such as new boundaries, as well as potential election strategy such as looking at where Labour's best regions are to gain seats, which I wrote in June 2021, before the poll surge ahead of the Conservatives.I want to give good unbias, facts based journalism that does not have an agenda, but more puts the situations and events that arise in a specific context. This can be through electoral or even historical as both are areas of expertise and interest of mine, where I can use my research of political geography, electoral developments and knowledge of historical Prime Ministers and events to bring information that is reliable, and feeds the electorate the best information possible.This is something I want to do, because of my dissertation into polarisation, and my work in contemporary political issues such as mistrust in media. With various news sources being entangled in political points scoring, I believe that it has weakened our political system with information and facts being used as political weapons rather than valued information for the electorate to make their own mind up. Therefore, I came into journalism with a vision of giving the best source of information, backing up my analysis with facts and going through this career with integrity. That is my mission statement which I hope to uphold in my practise of the profession.
